Description:
1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Here at Classic Auto Mall, we find all kinds of creations coming through the door.  In fact the famous saying among us Motorheads is you never know what\'s coming through the door next!\'.  This is a perfect example of a modified customized car that has been taken to the next level in power and looks.  Gotta love those shade tree tinkerers! For consignment, a consignor stated, (and it is true), highly modified 1965 Mustang Fastback.  Built with speed in a straight line in mind, we can see some of the mods on the exterior with the big rear wheels and tires, but most of the work is within the confines of the engine bay and undercarriage.  Also with safety in mind a roll bar has been added inside along with custom seats.  Boogity Boogity Boogity...lets go racin\' boyz ! Exterior At initial glance we think we are looking at a mild mannered Rangoon Red painted 2 door Mustang Fastback from 1965 and you may say our decoder\'s favorite thing to say...MEH!  However, upon closer inspection, we can see most of the factory fastback charm has been retained while adding some kick ass curb appeal into the mix.  The grille retains its chrome 4 bar trimmings and galloping corralled pony badge just like it did from the factory.  OK you may say, but I can still see the hockey stick trimmed cove and louvered quarter glass on the sides, bumpers in chrome and trimmed windshield car I can get from the dealer.  To that end I\'d reply OH CONTRARE\'!  A snorkel style hood scoop has been added for that period perfect racer looks and the rear wheel wells have been massively tubbed to accommodate the 15-inch Centerline wheels wrapped in 31x14.5x15LT slightly treaded Mickey Thompson ET Street rubber.  On back, the triple tail lights remain, however the rear roll pan is fully smooth and would normally be where the dual exhaust would normally exit.  Upfront the suspension has been lowered to give the car the drag racing rake, and on front 4 lug 15-inch Centerline solid wheels are wrapped in 27x4.50-15\'s.  Large side pipes now exit stage right and left just prior to the rear wells.  I now give you a receipt horse! Interior Inside a multi-point red steel pipe roll cage has been added in, the rear seat removed, and now dual racing buckets with harness seat belts keep the driver and reluctant passenger firmly entrenched in the seats.  Fairly clean black carpet floats this racy interior and on the center the hump is now a B&M shifter.  The instrumentation is factory original and a small black rimmed rally style steering wheel is perched atop the column that comes with an AutoMeter tachometer strapped on.  Dash central holds the chrome heater slides, the factory AM radio and a few added toggles and red lights.  The trunk, where a fuel cell resides along with the battery box, is sprayed with texture paint looking a lot like trunk liner paint. Drivetrain The hood now is fully lift off and when removed reveals the completely custom engine bay.  Here we can view the front suspension as well as the wheels and brakes, but the shining star is the dark blue painted 460ci V8 strapped between the frame rails.  On top is a chrome air cleaner assembly which resides over a 4-barrel carburetor.  On the back is a C6 3-speed automatic transmission, and way back is a Ford 9-inch rear with shortened axles.  Fairly clean exhaust manifolds and chrome Edelbrock badged valve coverings are to either side of the engine. Undercarriage All I can see is wide rear tires!  But I digress as there is no invasive rust, just custom fabricated tubs and panels which house a competition fuel filter and pump, hard piped steel lines, coil over shocks, and Flowmaster style free flow exhaust exiting at the sides.  Disc brakes are on front, and drums for the rear, we can note ladder bars added in with the rear coilovers for the suspension, and independent coil springs in Mustang II format are on for the front. Drive-Ability The MEH guy took her for a spin a
