The factory Sport Gold Metallic finish is the right idea for this Firebird because it truly is precious metal. 1998 was the first year for the restyled 4th generation cars. The design allowed the car to grow into its angular body much better. This is only amplified by a special color-matching bodykit that gives this car an extra flair of aggression. The factory gold paint still has so much luster today, that you know this car has truly been babied for the few thousand miles it has traveled. And while the spectacular paint already provides plenty of shine, the 18-inch Foose wheels add that extra helping of look-at-me brightness. You can instantly tell this Firebird is ready for flight with the custom black stripe package that begins at the iconic screaming chicken on the hood and runs all the way back over rear wing. Pontiac\'s stylists did one heck of a job with the Trans Am\'s interior by visually separating it from its cousin Camaro and giving it a unique look. Deeply sculpted leather buckets are supportive enough for the spirited driving that this car encourages, and as the top-of-the-line machine, just about everything was standard equipment. That means air conditioning, power windows, power locks, keyless entry, dual airbags, cruise control, tilt wheel, and power seats. This one is so original it even comes with the factory premium Monsoon AM/FM/cassette stereo with seven-band equalizer and 12-disc CD changer in the trunk (you can also control this from the steering wheel.) In fact, the only item that you\'ll recognize that\'s not from the factory is the boost gauge below the A/C controls, and that makes this one extra special.
The 1998 redesign also meant the Corvette\'s LS1 aluminum block V8 became available. This fuel-injected 5.7-liter is one of the most celebrated performance motors of its time, but the upgrades to this Trans Am didn\'t stop there. The added Vortec supercharger has been claimed to give this one 475 hp (we do not have a dyno to prove this). Although this car did not come from the factory with the WS6 package, it appears to have some of its features such as larger front sway bars, quad-snout Ram Air intake with larger air box, and badging. And when you really want to be noticed at the car show, with the press of a button you can open the electric exhaust cutouts to really let the exhaust breathe! This Pontiac might have all the right go-fast features, but because it\'s a modern classic, it\'s also everyday comfortable. This includes the convenience of a four-speed automatic w/overdrive, which provides enough gears to be quick off the line as well as cruise comfortably on the highway. Plus, there\'s power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and ABS. But as easy as it is to pilot this Pontiac, it has never been a daily driver. It has been cherished like a classic all its life and has averaged less than 850 miles per year.
