Description:1980 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe In this ever changing world, some things endure. A fine red wine. Soft smoke on an autumn evening. A walk along the seashore. And Chevrolet Corvette. Now 26 years young. And still America\'s only true production sports car. But endurance can live side by side with improvement. For 1980, air conditioning, power windows, and Tilt-Telescopic steering are standard equipment. But beyond the machinery, there is the dream. Corvette and the open road. For thousands, that dream endures. From the 1980 sales brochure. For consignment, a 1980 Chevrolet Corvette coupe with a title verified 57,408 actual miles and retaining its numbers matching L82 V8. The car presents in clean driver quality and if you were looking for an onramp to the classic Corvette world, this is a fine candidate. ***Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.*** Exterior Plenty of shine left on the single stage black paint flowing over the coke bottle body accentuated by a white pinstripe that contours to the curvaceous fenders. The sloping and curved rear window melts into the decklid which itself blends almost seamlessly into the rising, integrated wing, capping the aerodynamic profile like an exclamation point. The wide front is a fantastic design and if intent is in the eyes, it can\'t be seen with the hidden headlights, but the rising power bulge on the hood, lower grille, and rising shoulders are enough to get the point across. Overall, the exterior is in good condition with imperfections noted as chipping paint on a bumper, scratches, stress cracks, and some touched up chips. 15-inch aluminum slot wheels were designed for the Vette and these carry 255/60R15 tires with a mid 2018 date code. Interior Some patina, a corner tear, and looseness appears on the door panels which are in otherwise good condition. Gray cloth seats demonstrate the period\'s two part chairs and present in very nice condition while the gray carpet that floods the floor is a bit tired looking and has some staining. Other than some wear on the leather wrapped steering wheel, the dash and instrument clusters are in very good condition and if restoration is on your docket, you can skip much of this area. A Sanyo AM/FM/Cassette radio resides in the center stack and although not stock, it\'s period correct and who doesn\'t remember finally getting that cassette upgrade. The flat black surface of the center console is always subject to some use and is evident here and the shifter sits on the left side, closest to the driver. Drivetrain Under the hood is a clean and numbers matching 350ci L82 V8, rated at 230 horsepower with a 4-barrel carburetor perched on top. It\'s mated to a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear axle with 3.07 gears and Positraction. Undercarriage The underside is generally clean with some of the typical surface rust on frame components and the exhaust. Dual exhaust flows through a pair of Dynomax mufflers which carry down turned exhaust tips. There is no catalytic converter onboard. Four wheel power disc brakes are onboard and suspension includes coil springs up front and Corvette\'s complex system of a frame mounted differential, tubular axle drive shafts, transverse strut rods, torque control arms, and transverse leaf springs. Our consignor notes the car will need new shocks, control arm bushings and emergency brake repair. Drive-Ability Once in the comfortable cockpit envelopes you and unlike your Camry, you become a part of the car itself, and the Vette and sports car mystique becomes immediately apparent. The 350 sparks to life without hesitation and delivers robust acceleration in the straights, and excellent handling in the corners, and the need for new shocks is apparent with some slop over bumps.
