Description:1977 Jeep CJ5 An early version initially called the Willys Overland morphed from military GP, (general purpose), vehicle to the mass produced CJ, short for civilian Jeep. More than 1.5 million CJ Jeeps were built, having continued the same basic body style for 45 years since the Jeep first appeared. Widely regarded as America\'s workhorse, the CJs have been described as probably the most successful utility vehicle ever made. The word Jeep is an acronym of the letters GP. For consignment a 1980 variety of the CJ5 production. This example has large tires and wheels, a new soft top, new bikini top, fully refurbished seats, new fuel tank, new nerf bars, and has been modified for the rugged trail with a tubular front bumper with a rewired winch, and high stance. Our consignor states it has been mechanically inspected and serviced and is gracing out Hallowed Halls with a non verifiable 2,417 miles on the odometer. Grab the tent and let\'s go climb something outside! ***Due to varying emissions control devices being removed, please check with your state, county, local or provincial motor vehicle department to verify the ability to legally register this vehicle in your area*** Exterior With the iconic Jeep look, the black vertical grille with single flanking round new LED headlight on either side, and spring loaded clipped hood, we are talking about an American Jeep sport utility before the term came to be. A tubular front bumper with a rewired Ramsey winch leads the way and deep dark black is covering this tall tale, and it looks just in great condition but not without some flaws, particularly some rust staining on the lowers. New nerf bars have been added to the sides and black accents like the new black canvas removable top with its clear plastic windows, new removable doors and tube front bumper and twin glossy black tube rear bumpers give this off-roader the perfect look. Deep dish 15-inch polished aluminum wheels are wrapped by like new knobby Pro-Comp 31x12.50R15LT tires all around. Interior Two large high back buckets show as nearly new in a black colorway. They flank a large center console/storage area in black with a vinyl padded topper and plenty of low pile black carpet covers the floors and is protected by all weather rubber mats. The rear seat matches the front buckets and stretches across the rear cargo area. The dash is black metal with a black padded topper and houses the stock Jeep gauges, a radio delete panel, and on the passenger side, a chrome laden Jesus bar for those steep ones, where you are in control, but the passenger thinks otherwise! On the other side we see the 3 spoke steering wheel protruding from the dash. The top is in nice condition, and the inside of the doors is an extension of the top and presents nicely as well. All weatherproof and a new bikini top is under the rear seat. Drivetrain The correct engine sits within a fairly clean engine bay. The engine block and intake show some surface rust mixing in with the AMC blue painted block and heads, and the chrome air cleaner and valve covers are in good condition but could use a polishing. This engine is a 304ci that is fed by a 2-barrel carburetor on top and a Tremec T-150 3-speed manual transmission on back. The rear pumpkin in an AMC 20 variety with 3.54 geared and rolls along smoothly and for those sticky spots, pull the lever on the Dana 20 transfer case and engage the Dana 30 3.54 geared front axle. Undercarriage Some road dirt, and a smattering of surface rust is seen underneath. All thought remains structurally sound, in good condition all unremarkable. The transfer case skid plate has an accumulation of grease and for the ride its leaf spring suspension all around and power drums on back and power disc brakes are upfront. Headers snake their way down from the AMC mill and lead to dual exhaust with stock style replacement mufflers and we note the catalytic converter has been removed. Drive-Abi
