Description:
1977 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe The 1977 Corvette was no longer badged with the Sting Ray script. The tried and true orange engine color was changed to blue between August and September of 1976. Some early production 1977 Corvettes were still built with the orange painted engines, but most have the new blue engines. A new crossed flag badge adorned the front of the hood between the headlights as well as on the fuel filler door. The glass roof panels that were announced this year were never delivered on a production car. The 500,000th Corvette rolled off the line this year. For consignment, a C3 version from 1977 with its number matching drivetrain, purchased by our consignor in 2017 and kept in storage while being used as a fair weather car. Maintenance and repair records come with from our consignor\'s time of ownership for this great driving and sounding car. Overall fair condition on the exterior, a favorite design version of this writer with all rounded edges and a beautiful profile and stance. Exterior Bathed in Corvette Tan Buckskin, there are areas on the surface of this car that show cracking and chipping of the paint particularly at the tops of the doors, otherwise the paint is nice and smooth. The gaps are slightly inconsistent, and this car sports a removable T top with matching fiberglass panels. Just behind the front wheels the body flares into the fender nicely and move upward to form the curved fender that melts into the hood area, which also houses the hidden headlights. Bringing up the rear are the round taillights in a body matching curved bumper. 15-inch polished slotted wheels are all around and are wrapped in newer Cooper Radial GT raised white letter tires. Interior Peering through the removable t top we see dark brown cloth upholstery covering the high back buckets with brown leather bolsters all of which are in very nice condition. These are fronted by an angled dash that has a center console extension which houses several gauges in the center just above the shift lever. An AM/FM Stereo is inserted here as well. Deeply embedded circular gauges are in front of the driver as well as the original steering wheel. Brown carpet covers the floors and is in generally good condition with brown carpeted mats for extra protection. Some fading to an orangish gold color in the back storage compartment is evident. On the passenger\'s side no glove box but dual storage pouches are conveniently located in the dash. Brown vinyl molded and contoured door panels wrap up our tour and display well with their black trimming, chrome spears, and shiny window cranks. Drivetrain A correct and numbers matching 350ci V8 L48 with a single 4-barrel carburetor and a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, make up the drivetrain. A 3.08 rear axle spins the tires. A very clean engine bay is noted with some surface rust on the water pump, and we see the A/C compressor and components are missing. We also note a new radiator, water pump, new gaskets and a new heater core as well. Undercarriage Mostly clean and nice underneath with good flooring but an area of invasive rust is noted in the frame just under the battery tray that will need attention sooner rather than later. Single exhaust snakes its way rearward from the engine and splits into a dual system before ending in a pair of stock style mufflers. Independent coil sprung suspension is on the front and an independent suspension with a frame anchored differential and a transverse leaf spring is on the rear. Power disc brakes adorn all 4 corners for the whoa factor. Drive-Ability This car starts quickly and runs very nicely. It is a nice comfortable interior you slip into and with a flick of the shifter, we are off and running. Nice handling, and good acceleration and overall power. It was a nice day and we took the roof panels out and enjoyed the airflow. We noticed the clock wasn\'t working but all other functions worked just fine. With
