Description:1969 Chevrolet Nova It\'s the classic cautionary tale about the pitfalls of doing business in foreign countries that can be found in hundreds (if not thousands) of books about marketing: General Motors introduced their Chevrolet Nova model of automobile into a Spanish-speaking market, then scratched their heads in puzzlement when it sold poorly. GM executives were baffled until someone finally pointed out to them that nova translates as doesn\'t go in Spanish. The embarrassed automobile giant changed the model name to the Caribe, and sales of the car took off. As the facts prove this is indeed a tall tale, however it lives on in internet infamy. For consignment and ripe for the picking here at Classic Auto Mall, this midnight blue restored example of the 1969 Chevrolet Nova is showing off as a very juicy pick from our inventory. With a fresh big block drivetrain, nice chrome, beautiful interior and 15-inch polished Weld wheels you won\'t be left feeling blue, but you will be ready to turn the key and go off into the sunset, albeit somewhat fast! Exterior With a horizontal shiny ribbed grille complete with added SS badging and a single flanking headlight on either corner, and shiny bumper below, this is the leadoff for this machine. Some yellow and light blue pinstriping lead back from the Chevy II hood trim and the central peak of the hood splits the SS style hood louver inserts. Nice shiny trimmings for the glass surrounds and side view mirrors as well as the trio of cowl mounted chrome pod residing gauges. This car\'s panels, which have decently minded gaps, do show with some inclusions, cracking and bubbling of the body, mainly reserved to the lower panels. Otherwise, straight steel with just the small aforementioned faults within the paint. Factory correct fender gills are highlighted by starburst pinstriping as are the side marker lights and 327 fender callouts. The back of the car keeps it simple with a single horizontal tail light on either side of the ribbed and blacked out SS insert and another shiny bumper below. 15-inch highly polished Weld Draglite wheels are on all 4 corners and wrapped by skinnies and fats on the front and rear respectively. Interior Racy would best describe the interior with original door panels in black vinyl and a strip of chrome just below the sills. The central black ribbed vinyl panel is dressed up top with a chrome highlighted white spear along with chrome for the cranks and actuators. Turning our attention to the passenger compartment we see black vinyl high back bucket seats in front complete with adjustable headrests, and a bench in the back. In the center garnishing the hump is a long shift lever reaching for the driver with a silver knob on top. Black carpeting is flooding the floors and looking good in fade free condition, although the front section should be replaced due to a hole on the hump. Up to the dash and it is GM simplicity with just a speedo and gas gauge, and a tachometer hanging from the bottom center. Temp sliders are on to the right of the original GM steering wheel, with an empty slot where the original radio was. Above is a nice tight black headliner in textured vinyl Drivetrain Underneath the nicely restored hood is some automotive bling in the form of a 402ci V8. Our consignor notes that this mill was recently redone by Rich\'s Automotive Machine in Fleetwood, PA. An aluminum radiator with a 10 electric fan keeps things cool, meanwhile an East Coast Auto Electric mini starter provides the cranking and an Accel distributor lights the fire within. On top is a single 4-barrel Holley carburetor bolted to an Edelbrock intake manifold and on back is a 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with an Allstar torque converter, all built especially for the 402 cuber. This lethal combination pushes power to a 12-bolt posi rear. A new Delphi fuel pump is in charge of fuel delivery for the mighty mill. Undercarriage All nicely restored with s
