FOR SALE: Second Owner Since 1982 $15,000 $13,500 USD NEG
Hershey, PA

History: I purchased this car on June 7
1982 with 86,872 miles. I am the second
owner. Currently shows 139,875. Car has
always been stored in a garaged. It was
daily car for two years. In 1984 it was
repainted the original Augusta Green
Metallic along with minor rust repair
in the quarters. The hood, front
fenders, doors and trunk lid have
always been rust free including any
surface rust. It was used for car shows
and nice day driving only after the
repaint. Has PA antique tags since
1993. This car is a well preserved
original that has much potential and
would qualify as a show car/ magazine
car once finished.
VIN: 8F91C585568: 8-model year 1968, F-

hardtop bucket seat, R-color Augusta
Green Metallic #3067-A, 1A-trim black
cloth and vinyl, 15V-date August 15
1968, 16-District Philadelphia PA, 5-
rear axle 3.00, W-transmission C4
automatic. Factory options: merc-o-
matic $168, power steering $73, oxford
vinyl roof $65, door edge guards $4,
stereo is unknown but most likely AM
radio. Base price $2,933 plus options
$310 equals $3,243. Engine tag 289E 68
16 F 28 K236-J: Axle tag WCZ – F1 3.00
86A 931.
Options: This is a basic standard
Cougar with few options. Options
include automatic, power steering,
vinyl roof, door edge guards, and a
radio most likely an Am radio.
Exterior 1982-1999: Repainted original
Augusta Green Metallic in polyurethane
enamel in July 1984. Car retains all
original panels. No rust except for
small areas in the rear quarters. These
areas were replaced with patches from a
rust free donor. The floorboards are
clean except for a small area on the
drivers side. The cowl is rust free and
does not leak. The vinyl roof is
original as well as the glass. The
windshield and rear window will need
replaced due to some weld spatter. The
vinyl top is in great shape although
sections at the lower rear window will
need repaired. The chrome and stainless
trim are all original and in really
nice condition. The only exception are
the wheel well moldings. The originals
where still very presentable but I
replaced with NOS units. I added an
aftermarket front spoiler, aftermarket
hood pins, original G hood scoop,
aftermarket rear wing, original XR7
emblems and aftermarket GT emblems all
added in 1984. The rear valance was
modified for the after market quad
exhaust tips. Light jadestone metallic
tape pinstripes. Stainless hardware is
used for most upgrades. Door hinge
bushing have been replaced. The antenna
has been with a reproduction. Locking
fuel cap.
Exterior Restomod: Car was disassembled
in order to modify the chassis. This
was a running, well driving car when I
decided to modify it. The rear quarters
have been modified to replace the
mounted reflectors with the same
lighted units as the front fenders.
Extra side marker lamps are included.
The rear wheel well lips have also been
uniformly narrowed and reinforced with
flat steel for esthetics. The trunk lid
tension rods have been removed and
replaced with struts and opens easily
with the added weight of the rear wing.
There is a small dent on the leading
edge of the passenger side rear wheel
well. The top of the taillight panel is
dented down a bit. Both happened during
storage. Otherwise body is dent free.
The windshield and the rear window will
need replacement due to weld splatter.
I have two sets of tail lamp lenses. I
added blue dots to the second set. The
current wheels are Konig Villains
custom chromed in sizes 18x8 and 18x9.
Tires are Dunlop Sport 9000 in sizes
224/40/18 and 275/35/18. These are
newer style offset wheels to match the
newer style front and rear suspension
custom made for this car.
Interior 1982-1999: Interior is black
vinyl. Complete interior is original
and in exceptional condition. Only the
kick panels and package shelf have been
replaced. Aftermarket kick panels are
used due to the added 6-1/2” speakers
and the package shelf is stained and
varnished furniture grade plywood. It
has cut outs for 6x9” speakers and the
defogger. I added original XR7 courtesy
lights to the door panels. An original
1969 Cougar floor console has been
added along with the shifter assembly.
The steering wheel has a high quality
black leather wrap, a nice touch. The
dash has been swapped from the standard
style to the woodgrain XR7 to include
all wiring. The steering wheel has the
woodgrain insert as well as the floor
console. An upper XR7 console has been
added and functions as it should. To
protect the near new original carpet I
added newer style Ford brand floor
mats. The radio bezel has been modified
to fit a DIN style stereo. The trunk
has black carpet and an electric
release located in the glove box. I
believe I still have the four Pioneer
Interior Restomod: The seat adjusters
were relocated from the front to the
outboard sides for under seat
clearance. The center of each seat
riser was removed to make room for
amplifiers or such. The rear seat
secure hooks were flipped upside down
so it could still be utilized with the
four link covers. The trunk diagonal
braces have been removed. The shifter
hole was enlarged to allow the T5
shifter as the engine now sits further
back. The dash mounted ignition hole
was modified to allow a second headlamp
switch. This was to be used for driving
lights but can easily be reversed. Both
the original steering column and a tilt
unit from a 1988 Tbird Turbo Coupe are
included. The kick panel and rear
package shelf speaker opening have
reinforced metal mounts. And the front
speakers have metal enclosures. I have
a Vintage Air system, Digital Dakota
remote and power lock system and
Haneline power window system. The door
to jamb wiring access holes have been
enlarged and include rubber bellows.
Also have all dash AC vents. The gages
and controls have been cleaned and
repainted the original charcoal
Chassis 1982-1999: Not much was changed
here. The original non power, four
wheel drums were maintained. The power
steering system started to leak just
before the rebuild. The coil springs
and rear leaf springs were original and
kept a good ride height and stance. I
did ad KYB shocks, a nice upgrade. Had
the original front sway bar but never a
rear sway bar. Original rear tow hooks.
Chassis Restomod: This is where things
get busy and expensive. The engine bay
has been removed along with the
firewall bump out on the passenger
side. This was smoothed and allowed for
the engine to sit further back about
three inches. All floorpan and trunk
covers and rubber plugs have been
welded shut and smoothed. Most altered
screw holes have been upgraded to a
stonger bolt thread type including the
fuel tank mounts. The suspension,
brakes and steering and axle were
custom designed and made by Jim Meyer
in Oregon. The front suspension is
independent with tubular A arms, HAL
adjustable coil overs, a Ford R&P
steering unit, Wilwood 12.75” vented
rotors with aluminum hats and dual bore
billet aluminum calipers. The spindles
are heavy duty, police duty type. The
current upper A arm mounts and current
lower A arm mounts with incorporated
crossbar have an upgraded design that
needs to be installed. The new design
combines the upper and lower A arm
mounts into a single unit while there
is now an adjustable crossbar to
strengthen the frame and mount the
engine. The rear suspension is an
adjustable, equal length tubular four
link with pan hard bar and HAL
adjustable coil overs, a Ford 9”
housing. Dutchman 31 spline axles with
large bearings and a 9” Ford 31 spline
center with 3.50 open gears. Brakes are
the same as the front. Front and rear
sway bars are included. Mounts are
either bearing or polyurethane. All old
chassis mounts have been removed or
smoothed. There is no underbody rust
thanks to the dealer applied undercoat.
All undercoat has been removed both
under and inside. The front torque
boxes are solid and have been opened in
the front to verify. Steel plates bolt
in place to close if desired. All
removed metal has been retained if
needed in the future.
Mechanical 1982-1999: The original 289-
2V engine is included although I added
a 1968 Mustang 4V intake and
carburetor. The engine ran when pulled
but should be rebuilt if you intend to
retain it. I added Blackjack Aluma Coat
headers and dual exhaust with quad
Shelby style chrome tips. The original
C4 trans was rebuilt by Ford in early
1984. The original 8” 3.00 open axle is
included. Also, most of the original
engine accessories will be included
such as alternator and PS pump.
Mechanical Restomod: Quanta 1970 style
22 gallon fuel tank with sender mounts
in a flat steel reinforced mount
secured by machine threads, not screw
threads. Master Power 1968 Ford style
booster with four wheel disc master
cylinder and combo valve. Included are
brake and clutch pedals with proper
under dash mounts and new pads with
stainless trim.
Conclusion: I have clear title and have
had always had the car insured. This
car will be well built and engineered
when finished. I honestly do not want
to sell but it deserves to be finished.
I do not have the time or the funds to
complete it. It is a perfect candidate
to finish and enjoy or use as a show
car. The few pictures allowed here do
not tell the complete story of this
car. I can USPS a photo dvd showing all
details for a nominal fee. I’m reducing
my vehicle collection and engaging in a
new business venture. Unfortunately, I
no longer have the time for the fun
stuff. : ) I urge a personal inspection
prior to purchase and will be glad to
do a walk around with you.
