Description:Following the tire tracks of the 1965 Chevrolet Impala remains a tough act to follow after more than a million Impalas were sold. It\'s a high watermark that has never been exceeded. For 1966, Chevrolet decided to follow the well-worn adage of, If it\'s not broken, don\'t fix it. The Impala proved to be the #2-selling convertible in the U.S. in 1966, with 38,000 sold. We have a \'66 Impala Super Sports Convertible at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. Dressed in Regal Red (code R), this example was made in General Motors\' Arlington, Texas assembly plant (VIN code R) during the fourth week of November 1965. The paint and trim are in overall very good order but there are some blemishes visible at the base of the trunk lid. The car\'s chrome bumpers and bumper guards fit tightly to the body. The trunk is very tidy and has a full-sized spare tire and wheel. This Impala rolls on Mastercraft Avenger G/T radials, size 215/65R15 in front and 225/60R15 in back that are all mounted on Rallye wheels with chrome spinner caps. The wheels and tires are in good condition. Under the hood is a 396 CID Turbo-Jet V-8 engine (code L35) with a four-barrel carburetor and breathing via dual exhausts. It has an Edelbrock air cleaner and intake manifold. There\'s also an aluminum radiator. Backing this motor is a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 three-speed automatic transmission. Driver convenience features include power steering recirculating ball, power brakes with cross-drilled discs in front and tilt steering column. Inside, there is a white vinyl interior. The front buckets and rear bench look great. There are black Super Sport floor mats with red SS 396 logos. The inner door panels look great. The black, two-spoke steering wheel and matching dashboard, with its ribbon-style speedometer, is in fine shape. There are three ancillary gauges for coolant temperature, voltage and oil pressure mounted beneath the dashboard. There is a center console with a console-mounted shifter. A Custom AutoSound AM/FM receiver with RCA and Aux inputs for MP3, iPod, DVD, Satellite, etc. rounds out the interior. The 1966 Impala received only a minor facelift from its predecessor that included a revised horizontal bar grille up front and new triple rectangular taillights that replaced the triple round lights used on full-sized Chevrolets each year since 1958 with the exception of 1959, and chrome beltline strips were added in response to complaints about parking lot door dings on the clean-lined \'65 models. Convertible competition to this Impala in 1966 included Ford\'s Galaxie 500 LTD and Plymouth\'s Fury, plus Pontiac\'s Bonneville. If you seek a classic American convertible from the mid-1960s for cruising, you would be hard-pressed to find a better candidate at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. VIN: 163676R132531 This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 42.357 miles. We all know that the financial times right now are tough. With the stock market being so volatile and investments becoming less valuable, many people are turning to the classic car market to invest their money. Putting your money into a hard asset that you can enjoy everyday is becoming a very popular option, especially now when the marketplace is lower then it’s been in many years. We invite you to put your money into a vehicle that is fun to own and brings back memories of when you were younger.
With the increase in turnover has come the increased need of fine automobiles. We are constantly looking for exceptional cars and travel the country coast to coast in search of the rare and unusual. We find our cars through individuals like yourselves as well as classic car and dealer auctions. We do not purchase vehicles that we would not be proud to own ourselves.
