1965 Ford Mustang Fastback Carroll Shelby\'s famed GT line fueled the muscle car fire by introducing some of the coolest and most aggressive Mustang design cues ever created. Mixing a variety of Shelby cosmetics with a killer stance, this striking Ford, built in 1965 shows some of those influences. For consignment, a 1965 Mustang fastback showing as a Shelby Mustang GT350 clone. This means it was a fastback but has been modified to look as though it was an actual GT350. It has the correct colors, the vents on the B pillar, and a swept back rear glass. It also contains a 302ci V8, shifted by a 4-speed Toploader transmission. Exterior Starting with a 1965 Mustang Fastback and making sure all bodywork was in rust free condition, it was then bathed in white, and has blue dual wide racing stripes on top, and a rocker stripe with a GT 350 badging in the middle near the wheel well. This car now presents with straight exterior steel which is minding its gaps nicely. Chrome trimmings surround the windows and show on the bumpers as excellent condition. For the icing on the cake 15 inch Cragar 5 spoke chrome wheels are now adorning each corner, all wrapped in raised white letter BF Goodrich radial T/A\'s. Interior As we move to the interior, past a large white vinyl vertical tuck and roll panel which has a padded white surround and houses the door actuator which sports a hint of wood appliqué and the window crank along with a joystick for the side view mirror it\'s looking fairly clean with some wear. Blue metal envelopes this panel on top and bottom. The seats, front low back buckets, and rear fold down bench have blue bolsters which are nice and smooth with a small top area that is done up in blue vinyl tuck and roll. This is the deluxe or widely known as the pony option interior, which has galloping horses and a nifty border embossed into a darker blue panel. On the mid section for the inserts, we note wider tuck and roll tufts and these are presenting in white. Seats show some wear but remain in overall good condition. Fronting this seating is a wood rimmed with 3-spoked, chromed and drilled steering wheel. The wood is showing some cracks and a missing small section. Way upfront, is the dual eyebrow blue topped and padded dash top, and white painted metal dash front. For the series of 5 round gauges there is a wood appliqué panel. This example also sports a column mounted aftermarket tachometer. Blue carpeting floods the floors is clean and not faded and on the hump a T bar Hurst shifter resides. An incorrect AM/FM radio resides in the dash center and in front of the passenger is a wood appliqué oval glove box and door. Above all this is a light blue headliner in vinyl and looking nice and tight with matching visors. Drivetrain The drivetrain now codes out as a ca. 1969-1974 302ci V8 with 2 bolt mains. It is topped by an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. The transmission is now a 4-speed manual Toploader which pushes power to the back through a Ford 9-inch rear. Undercarriage A beauty up top and inside, however, a few frowns of concern are under this car. On back the rear frame rails have been compromised with possible integrity issues due to invasive rust where said frame rails meet the torque boxes. Looking at the photos and our inspection have deduced there is also separation between the two and some reinforcement bars have been added. Also moving forward on the floors at the heel toe boards, we can focus in on some invasive rust which now has patching from the inside. Otherwise, we can see independent coil springs for the front and leaf springs for the rear, and some Shelby style traction bars added for some extra grip. Disc brakes are on front, and drums on back. Glasspack style mufflers take the spent gasses from the headers to the back of the car, exiting through chrome bezeled holes within the rear roll pan. Drive-Ability A quick starter and a bit of a lo
