The rebuild restoration and customization of
this Mustang is apparent from every angle. It
starts up front with the GT-style fog light
grille with lighted running horse, and the
front valance (with specially built matching
honey comb a/c grille) borrowed from the
GT350 racers. But those are not the only
touches. The one pc polymer hood with
functional Hood Scoop, front spoiler, and the
GT stripes, along with the Bullit style
mirrors, and GT Gas Cap (with locking
mechanism), engine bay stainless steel dress
up, a classy panel, electric trunk, stainless
steel brake and fuel lines, a stainless steel
gas tank, Intermittent wipers, fully
accessorized interior, retracting seatbelts,
Chrome Gills to add more bling to those
darting headlamp eyes,. All of these features
provide this pony with its own identity and
personality. It even has a lighted corral
horse when the park lights are on.
This baby is one of a kind. It has been
rebuilt with every attention given to
original era correct detail inside and out.
Additional options that were available during
the 65 66 years were added to complete this
car as being fully Ford / Dealer optioned.
The fresh coat of brilliant 1966 ember glow
paint and the upgraded 15-inch styled steel
wheels will get you plenty of "Cool Thumbs
Up!" screams by fans. But beneath all these
great tributes to iconic pony cars lies the
heart of one of the most desirable Mustangs.
It always makes us happy to see good
bodylines and paint like this on first-year 2
+ 2 cars.
Upon opening the door, the entrance gives way
to the elegance, starting with stainless
steel rocker panels and stainless steel sill
plates. Then your eyes feast upon a pristine
matching to body color, parchment /ember
glow deluxe sport pony interior. It is always
a step above desirable quality in a classic
mustang, and this one really goes the extra
mile. It's a sport (added foam) bucket seat
car that wraps you into the seat unlike the
flat top and sided original seats. The seats
have adjustable forward movement headrests,
providing a comfortable feel of the high back
seats.
Another favorite with everyone is the
desirable” Original Type Console”
complimented with a custom center console
that features cup holders. Brushed and Billet
aluminum is an added interior theme. This
theme includes the instrument gauges, glove
box, an ididtit brushed aluminum tilt
steering column, billet aluminum brake, gas,
and high beam pedals. An (era -correct) micro
switched modified pull handle allows easy
power access to the trunk. A key fob
included. Also on the dash are the optional
lighted fasten seat belt warning and
emergency brake on dash lamps, that were
originally an option to these cars if
ordered.
There are two sets of floor mats – ember glow
colored matching carpeted mats for show days
and Black Rubber pony mats for every day.
Also inside you will notice the upgrades,
with upgraded deluxe fiberglass seat backs,
trimmed in stainless steel (an option
available to the 67 deluxe car). Overhead on
the ceiling, a beautiful color matched roof
console with map reading lights, and a
brushed aluminum center panel to match the
dash components. Even the glove box is
dressed to the max. Grey flocked deluxe, and
glove box light. While you'll enjoy the
three-spoke sports steering wheel with Rally
Pac Gauges, your eyes will always be drawn to
the beauty of dashboard, and the original
style GT instrument gauges. The new odometer
displays the exact mileage, on the rebirth of
this mustang. The interior lighting … cool
led instrument lit gauges. This car will keep
your passengers cool and happy with air
conditioning, running modern R-134a, and an
original-style AM/FM stereo that also has an
iPod hookup for more modern tunes. A hidden
Tune trapper antenna allowed for the removal
of an external antenna. Custom Kick Panels
have built in pioneer speakers, the dash has
a 3 way speakers, and two hide away speakers
for the back. The interior of the car,
including doors and side panels is dyno
matted, insulated and quality carpeted to
keep constant inside temperature and deaden
outside noise. It’s Loud N Proud on the
outside, Quiet N Cool on the inside. We
cannot forget to talk about the trunk…! (It
was previously mentioned it is power trunk
lid) like the interior of the car, it also is
dyno matted insulated and has the fully
custom enclosed carpet kit. It’s like a
suitcase in there. All metal surfaces inside
out have been painted, prior to assembly.
Interior floors and body underside have been
specially painted with POR15 paint for
lifetime rust prevention. Every joint / seam
has been seam sealed. We upgraded from the
old “hard to balance bulky steel drive shaft”
and it now has a three inch aluminum
(lightweight high torque) driveshaft (with a
safety loop) to the rear axle. A full
restoration on a Mustang this cool would not
be complete without an upgrade in the engine
bay. This one is powered by an upgraded
(completely /professionally rebuilt) 5.0/302
cubic-inch V8 motor, which is larger than
anything the factory gave the Mustang for
1965, with no worries in using unleaded fuel.
It has a Billet Petronix Distributor matched
with a high power coil and high performance
8mm spark plug wire set. Cooling is no
problem as it is equipped with the upgraded
high performance 2 core aluminum radiators
with electric fan and shroud kit. Billet
Aluminum V Pulleys, Chrome Export Brace and
shock tower Caps to match. A Silicone Rad
hose kit connects the radiator to a
performance HI-PO water pump, (High
efficiency impeller and Nascar roller type
bearing) and a Factory Style Power Brake
Booster with dual reservoir master cylinder,
with silicone fluid.
The upgrades continue with the attention
grabbing finned aluminum valve covers, finned
oval air cleaner, and GT350-style stainless
steel support bar. What is a bit harder to
spot are features like the Holley four-barrel
carburetor, the performance aluminum intake
and the Carol Shelby designed HI-PO exhaust
manifolds. These manifolds are fitted to the
H-pipe and continue on to the new POR15
painted 2”Flowmaster dual exhaust system with
stainless steel high flow exhaust tips. The
Rear Suspension? (Of Course being new) with
high performance components, is complimented
and upgraded with front and rear sway bars,
and heavy duty rear springs. And KYB Heavy
duty Shocks. Bolt in sub frame connectors
keep this ride straight if you want to get
busy with it. The Front Suspension? Again
all new!!, Heavy Duty GT Coil Springs with
poly coil seats, Heavy Duty Upper and Lower
Control arms with Heavy duty KYB Type shock
absorbers. As much as this pony appears to be
leaning towards a pure performance machine,
there are plenty of features that make this
Mustang everyday friendly. The steering
geometry evolved to become a rack and pinion.
(No more power steering fluid leaks) This
steering performance is the in-between world
of standard steering to power steering. The
5.0 liter has been teamed up with an AOD
(automatic overdrive transmission). Out on
the highway, when the transmission shifts to
overdrive …. the loud and proud take off
settles into a quiet cruise. The rubber hits
the road with maximum sized allowed nostalgic
white lettered BF Goodrich Radial Tires that
look fantastic, and has a matching wheel and
center cap with full sized matching spare.
For added safety …all wiring was replaced
with factory correct harnesses throughout.
Led exterior lighting (signal lights and
backup lamps) along with the cool sequential
signal lights were installed. It also
features intermittent wipers, deluxe daytime
nighttime rear view mirror, and all new
safety glass.
As a theft deterrent… a power off switch at
the battery keeps power from entering the
car. The new style doors with built in crash
bar feature (unseen but there when you really
need them). The vin # is stamped at a number
of inconspicuous areas for easy police and
insurance identification. The front and rear
bumpers and bumper guards are the jewelry on
this beautiful pony. We took newly purchased
product and had them professionally chromed
to be the very best in quality. This is a
classic pony car that combines everything you
love about the legendary fastback. Best of
all, it's upgraded and is as new and fully
optioned as it was or could be back when
first built in 1965.Your eyes and mind will
really be tested to find old original parts
on this build.
