Description:Since September 1999, Street Dreams Texas has been bringing classic American muscle and collector cars to enthusiasts around the world. But our love of interesting cars has never stopped at the edge of American soil, and this 1964 MG MGB Mk I is a wonderful example of the lightweight British roadster that helped define the sports-car experience for a generation. As the third year of MGB production, 1964 sits firmly in the early Mk I era and retains several details that would soon disappear as the MGB evolved. Power comes from the 1,798cc four-cylinder engine, rated at 95 horsepower and breathing through a pair of SU carburetors. A 4-speed manual transmission puts the driver in control, while front disc brakes provide confident stopping power. This MGB has also been updated to a negative-ground charging system, making it a little more practical for modern ownership without taking away from its period character. It runs, drives, and stops smoothly, which is exactly what you want from a little roadster designed to make ordinary roads entertaining. The early Mk I details are part of what makes this car special. The metal dashboard, glove box, twin windshield wipers, original all-red taillights, Lucas headlights, and pull-style door handles all reflect the character of the early cars, with 1964 being the final year for those distinctive pull handles. The red exterior looks particularly sharp against the chrome accents and clean 14-inch alloy wheels, while the black vinyl interior with red piping keeps the classic British sports-car theme going inside. Both a hard top and soft top are included, giving the car some welcome versatility depending on the season or the mood. The presentation is just as impressive underneath the hood. The engine compartment is exceptionally clean, painted to match the attention given to the exterior, with fresh components and a level of detail that makes this MGB just as enjoyable to look at with the hood raised. The interior has a fresh, well-kept appearance, and underneath, the chassis is solid and honest. Add the luggage rack and you\'ve got a roadster that looks every bit as ready for a weekend drive as it does for a spot at a British car gathering. With approximately 386,000 MGB Roadsters produced from 1962 through 1980 and 26,542 built in 1964, this car represents a particularly interesting chapter in the model\'s history. It isn\'t simply an old convertible-it is an early Mk I MGB with the details that distinguish these first-generation cars, presented in a color combination that makes the whole package pop.
