Description:*1963 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Convertible* 1963 was the first year for the fully redesigned second generation Corvette- now offered in both coupe and convertible, the C2 was revolutionary for the model in terms of design and performance and set the stage for Corvette to become a world beating sports car. This 1963 Corvette convertible custom has undergone extensive aesthetic and mechanical modifications aimed at bringing that classic shape, 21st-century performance, and driving dynamics. Finished in gorgeous Brilliant Silver Metallic Over Cinnamon high quality leather interior, this example shows just 483 miles since the completion of the build and is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. The C2 Corvette was the first model from the brand to utilize an independent rear suspension which gave it stellar handling at the time- but in comparison to a more modern car, it was still lacking in both ride quality and grip. To fix this, the builder of this Corvette started with an Art Morrison Sport GT chassis which features completely updated suspension geometry and pickup points for modern shocks, springs and other under-car components. This chassis is accompanied by Art Morrison suspension components at all four corners which give the car a great, lowered stance and provide outstanding handling. These components also allow for modern braking to be installed and this example features high performance units from Wilwood with 14” discs and 6-piston calipers at all four wheels. These brakes are covered by a set of 19” Schott wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires which look great and the tires provide excellent roadholding in all weather. 1963 saw the most limited engine options for the C2 Corvette out of all the years of production but did feature the famed “Fulie” V8 with a Rochester Mechanical Fuel Injection system on top as the highest performance variant. This C2 also features a fuel injected V8 but in the form of a tuned LS3 with electronic injection and coil on plug ignition. Rated at over 525 horsepower, this engine provides more than adequate power and performance for the lightweight car and will prove both reliable and simple to service. To hide the modern powertrain, a silver formed cover that is painted to match the bodywork sits on top of the engine and gives the hood a sleek appearance when open. Connected to the engine is a 4L65 4-Speed automatic transmission with a Lokar shifter and in the rear end, 3.70 gears. The exterior is painted in a modern shade of Brilliant Silver that looks stunning on the car and does a great job of picking up the light and shadows on the body. In a unique twist, all of the chrome trim on this Corvette has been painted silver with a slight satin finish- a very attractive treatment that gives the car a sporty aesthetic but keeps all of the elements intact that so nicely break up the body. On the inside, ultra high grade Cinnamon leather has been fitted to the dashboard, seats, center console and doors by interior experts Auto Weave of Colorado and both looks and feels stunning. Dakota Digital gauges in front of the driver give accurate readouts about the vehicle’s mechanical systems and a Vintage Air system handles both heat and air conditioning. As with many of these Corvette convertibles in period, two tops are included- a color matched hardtop as well as a custom built tan soft top with manual activation. This Corvette Custom is ready to go after its 483 shakedown miles and will prove to be an enthralling experience for whoever is behind the wheel. To build a car like this to your own specification would take years and end up costing deep into the six figures for all of the work to be done at this level.
