This 5-window 3100 pickup is mostly original, with a
reliable 235 straight-six engine and rebuilt 4-on-the-
floor transmission. It runs very strong. Updates:
1) Conversion to 12 volts
2) Rear-end replacement for a more highway friendly
3) Change from closed to open driveline for easier
4) Radio replaced by (low-end) Craig cassette deck
and speakers. Other gauges are original
5) After-market turn indicator
6) Recent high-grade paint job (used to be gray with
black fenders). No rust.
The cab upholstery is original, as is sound and solid
This truck's been living in my carport for the 20 years
I've owned it and put to modest duty: runs to the
dump, carrying firewood, moving friends, a little
construction. The speedometer was down for an
unknown period of time, so its 57,000 mile odometer
reading is meaningless; I've probably racked up
between five and seven thousand miles and don't
know details of its whole history. It cruises well in town
and on the highway. In tight spaces the lack of power
steering calls for some muscle.
The gas gauge isn't been reliable, one of the quirks
that mean it won't be winning prizes at a bg show
anytime soon. The prize I get when I'm out and about
is a steady stream of thumbs-up and knowing smiles.
