1947 Jaques Power Saw Company Mighty Might NO TITLE-SOLD ON A BILL OF SALE ONLY The Jaques (Pronounced jah-quez) Power Saw Company from Denison Texas, who had built a pretty successful tractor themselves called the Jaques Mighty Mite, would supply the tractors for Frazer. This company was started in Austin Texas in 1941 by Jerry C Jaques and his two sons John Earl Jaques Sr and Douglas C Jaques. In 1943 the company moved its headquarters to Denison Texas. The company became well known for their line of power saws and posthole diggers. The Jaques power saw line was innovative in that the lineup included a tractor mounted saw, portable saws, the Jaques Jr Post-Hole digger and the Jaques Portable Power Saw. In January 1947, the first Mighty Mite tractors rolled off the assembly line at the Denison factory. The initial tractor model is the Mighty Mite MM. The second model which followed soon after was the Mighty Mite Model 10. For consignment a small garden tractor that can handle almost any task on a non commercial level. This is a barn find, in non running, and needing to be restored version of a low production tractor from 1947. Bathed in red and sitting on its original unrestored frame we see full steel for the seats, braking levers, and all accessories. A patina red painted cowled hood covers a 24ci L-head air cooled 4-cycle engine that developed 6.1 hp at 2700 rpm and 6.5 hp at 3200 rpm from a single cylinder that had a bore of 3 1/16 and a stroke of 3 ¼ inches. Three forward speeds provided a range of 2 ½ to 10 mph plus a reverse. Depending on the desired pull factor different drawbars are available. Some extensive surface rust is noted on mainly the frame, but the cowl also has spots of rust forming on it. Large tractor-like tires are on the back and crop row tires are on the ends of the splayed front axle so you do not run over your plantings. An early example of a garden tractor, not running but certainly low enough production numbers to be a collector novelty for the person who has an interest in tractors and tractor history.
