1947 Dodge Club Coupe Custom
Nearly 40 years ago this car was purchased by a couple of brothers who are known locally for their restorations. Other projects took precedence and the 47 Dodge sat. They decided to sell her on and that is when the current owner purchased her, well over 20 years ago.
He got the car running and drove her to work and on weekends, with the idea that he too would do a full back to stock restoration on her.
How many times have you heard the story... Life gets in the way. Marriage, two kids, pets, house, rental property...and on and on.. they all can get in the way... and they did. After several years of enjoying the Dodge Custom, it was parked with those plans on the table. The car has been sitting in the same garage bay where I was lead to, for nearly 15 years. The car has been started multiple times over those years, however, she'll need a new battery to do so now.
The 47 Dodge Club Coupe Custom is differentiated from the base Deluxe model by the large amount of stainless steel trim along the sides of the car, the same stainless wrapping the windshield, dual electric wipers and electric turn signals. Other options on this particular car are the heater /defroster, full gauges, 3 speed Fluid Drive transmission and the radio with push button resets.
Overall this car is in good shape. The body is solid aside from the driver and passenger floors. Replacement metal was tacked into place years ago and the bad stuff cut out, but it is not pretty and would need to be finished off correctly. Other than those items, there is some minor surface rust but no other rot.
The interior has seen better days and I'm not really sure anything is savable. However, with some nice Indian Blanket covers, the seats are sittable and would work well with a Rat Rod theme.
The engine does run and with some bleeding the brakes work too. It is believed that with minimal work she could be up and driving again.
All the stainless trim is included as are several extra parts, including an extra wheel, torque tube, distributor cap and other small electric bits.
If you'd like to save this big post war dodge and get her back on the road, in one way or another.. just as she is, a fully restored beauty or a rat rod, please contact me and we can show her to you in person.
