New to our Pleasanton showroom is this highly impressive 1938 Ford 1-Ton 2 Door Pickup with red exterior paint, black fenders/skirts and a black vinyl interior. You’ll find a factory-correct 221 cid V-8 engine under the hood with a matching 4-speed manual transmission that has a “granny gear” in 1st gear. The drivetrain and so much more is almost 100% original, making this one of the most delightful classic pickups you’ll discover this year.
Factory-Correct 221 V-8 & 4-Speed Manual Transmission
This 1938 Ford Pickup has been enjoyed by the current owner since 2018 and he was drawn to this example due to the striking originality found throughout. The bed, rear bumper and the taillights have been reconfigured sometime in the past 25 years to make this a fully functional work truck or hauler since the detachable wooden framing can be removed completely. Other than that, this beautiful pickup has been scarcely modified over the past 80+ years and still performs at admirable levels. The current owner drove it from New York to California earlier this year!
Additionally, this 1938 Ford 1-Ton Pickup has been carefully maintained with original appearing flat red & black exterior paint that gives it a more vintage appearance, but it would not take much to have this example ready for local shows. All the chrome and trim are in good shape all the way around and the modest interior is very clean throughout. The engine bay also appears factory correct and many collectors would consider this a “perfect” lightly restored example that has a true survivor feel.
