1934 Brewster Convertible Sedan. Vin # 18-1019-197. Body # 9027 Sold new on September 21, 1934 to Darling and Sheridan, 2910 San Marino Street, Los Angeles. CA., Rolls Royce representatives for the L. A. area. One of only 13 Convertible Sedans built and only 7 are known to still exist. Research shows that Darling and Sheridan also had a chain of Funeral Homes in the L. A. area. Factory colors were Pale Yellow with Cocoa Brown Moldings, however the car was repainted black, assumingly when it was turned over to the Funeral Homes. The entire chassis and undercarriage was also painted Cocoa Brown. The original convertible top and boot are tan Stayfast top material. Interior is brown Genuine Leather. This car is about 98 % original as when it left Brewster & Co. in 1934. It has NEVER been molested or mutilated by subjecting it to the imagination of re-builders or restorers! It is one of the FEW Ford chassis cars accepted by the Classic Car Club as a FULL CLASSIC!

Not much is known about its history until it was bought in 1960. by Mr. Jim McGuinness, Atlanta, GA Somehow, it found its way back to the New York area, possibly traded back to J. S. Inskip, who ran Rolls Royce and Brewster in NYC. Jim bought the car in CT and I stored it in my building for several weeks until he could drive it to his home in Atlanta. Mr. McGuinness owned it until 1995 when I bought it to add it to my other 2 Brewster car collection. As the black paint started to deteriorate I decided to remove the top layers in an effort to return it to the original paint and color. The car was sent to an Internationally known preservationist who started the removal process. THEN COVID HIT and we returned it to my shop. I continued the paint removal, as time permitted, until other obligations took over.

The car has a great 'Barn Find', ORIGINAL UNRESTORED look which makes it an exciting attraction at many major Concours and Special Invitation events, especially since it is much more rare than a “Tucker” or many of the other high end Classics. It is a joy to maintain and drive since the entire chassis is 1934 Ford V-8!

Originality Confirmation
If you look at pictures of many other Brewster cars you will see the difference between an ORIGINAL / UNRESTORED car and one that has been “butchered and destroyed” in order to give it 'Glitz & Glitter'! This car has abundant patina, which gives it the character that it deserves! Every effort has been made to keep it that way. The following items were part of Brewster's program to make the car “Special”. It has the original 1934 Ford engine, 221 CID, 85 HP, the original aluminum heads with the correct Model 40 part numbers. The heads and intake manifold were polished by Brewster. Also the original Ford air cleaner was chrome plated, most cars had a chrome steering column cover. Brewster replaced the standard Ford 6” wide X 16” wheels and 6.00-16 tires with Kelsey Hayes Bent Spoke Wheels – 6.5” Wide X 16” Dia. with 650-16 Tires. Most cars for sale today have the standard Ford 6” wide X 16” wheels and 6.00-16 tires. Brewster installed a Vacuum Brake Booster on most cars. This car has that booster but most cars being sold today do not have it! AND, it does work! A NEW fuel tank was installed in 2020. The car runs great and is driven regularly. Research and service records available 1996 to present.

It is quite unlikely you will ever see another one like it! I rarely find a buyer who likes my asking price! Tell me what it is worth to you! MAKE ME AN OFFER! The seller asks a price but the buyers create the “Market Value”! Remember, if you can't live without it, you can always offer 'HIGHER” than the asking price. You could very well be the highest bidder! OFFERS WILL NOT BE DISCLOSED! MORE INFO AT https://brewstercars.com/DonsNeatStuff/stuff-you-might-need/
