Description:
1931 Model A Pickup When delving into the history of hot rods, it\'s impossible to ignore the significant role that Ford vehicles have played. Ford\'s innovative and affordable automobiles became a popular choice for hot rod enthusiasts due to their wide availability, robust mechanical design, and ease of modification. Street rods, also known as street machines or street customs, are similar to hot rods in that they are modified vintage American cars. However, street rods tend to have a more refined and modernized appearance. Street rod enthusiasts often use more contemporary components and technology to enhance performance, safety, and comfort. Bienerford.com For consignment, a 1931 Ford Model A pickup showing 170 miles, but the true mileage are unknown, in part due to a faulty odometer. This custom interpretation uses some creative license to create a unique, somewhat whimsical show truck.   Exterior Single stage white matte paint coats this truck which hunkers down over 15-inch Bassett  wheels and wildly staggered size tires, poised to pounce at the next red light with the illusion of a nose down posture. Ford could not have imagined such a vision in \'31 when they were producing pickups used strictly for work in a country that was struggling through a depression. In lieu of a hood, the radiator shell is connected to the firewall with a rigid chain which reappears between the wheels in front, and in front of a 3D representation of Pennywise the clown and an outstretched hand. Dark hardware such as the door handle and mirror are black to match the wheels and the gray painted bed contains a keg shaped gas. Imperfections include evidence of filler throughout the body with cracks and rough surfaces.  Interior Black cloth drapes over the inner doors where black hardware resides opening up to a pair of cloth race inspired black buckets seats with red stitching and in very good condition. A sport steering wheel front the rough finished dashboard with speedometer straight ahead and a series of dolphin gauges in the center. A polished piston shaped shifter rises from the floor covered in carpet and rubber mats while the headliner is dressed in gray cloth. A red hue fills the cabin thanks to the red tinted windows.   Drivetrain The clean engine here is a 350ci GM Targetmaster crate V8 with an Edelbrock intake and 4-barrel carburetor. It\'s backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that routes through the Ford 9 in back with 3.73 gears. Long headers are on board and flow to the sides and terminate as a single pipe next to each door.  Undercarriage Clean and simple underneath with disc brakes up front and drums in back. Suspension consists of a transverse leaf spring in front and ladder bars and coil overs in back.   Drive-Ability We enter the compact cabin and start up the trusty V8 which emits a roar that would scare the clown suit off of Pennywise. We\'re on tires that are a bit older so won\'t be flogging this street rod, but it\'s clear there\'s a significant power to weight ratio and with fresh rubber, there\'s no doubt the giant meats out back would send this thing rocketing down the street. We note the horn, speedometer, odometer and turn signals are not working but all other functions do. While Classic Auto Mall represents that these functions were working at the time of our test drive, we cannot guarantee these functions will be working at the time of your purchase.  There\'s no clowning around in this potent pickup. It\'s a super cool ride with a fantastic profile and healthy powerplant. If you\'re looking for a compact street rod for cruise night, this is an E-ticket. Stowe your lawn chairs and cooler in the back and hit the road!
