Vehicle Description

Check it out, this 1942 Chevy truck is not only rare, but it\'s a rare opportunity to own a finished custom for a fraction of the cost of construction. Want to get noticed? Nothing does it better than this handsome, yet practical, pickup with two-tone paint, a wild interior, and reliable Chevy V8 power. The classic pre-war lines of the Chevy truck give it an unmistakable face and an old-school charm with a tall grille and separate headlight pods atop the fenders. The old truck\'s body lines naturally lend themselves to the two-tone paint treatment, with the upper wearing an iridescent purple over simple white lower, separated by a black border. Custom touches include a painted grille, shaved door handles, and a smooth tailgate. The paint is recent, the sheetmetal is straight (no fiberglass here), and the diamond plate bed is an interesting change from all the refinished wood beds we see all the time, and more durable, too! Bright red details on the nose call out the CHEVROLET name, and wrap-around bumpers fore and aft add a bit of period-correct protection. OK, so the interior isn\'t everyone\'s taste, but it is very well done and works well with the exterior color scheme. The black and purple upholstery was done a few years ago but is holding up very well, with no major signs of wear and you have to admit that it will generate attention at shows. A custom center console houses the electronics, including a CB radio, plus a trio of 12-volt power outlets for things like your cell phone charger, GPS, and other electronics, so you\'ll never be stranded again. Power windows, plus a cool crank-open windshield provide plenty of ventilation, and it\'s easy to get comfortable behind the tilt wheel. Digital gauges have been custom-fitted in the original dash, hidden behind a smoked piece of plexiglass until they come alive when the key is turned. Admit it, it\'s starting to grow on you, isn\'t it? The 350 under the hood is a mid-70s Z28 unit rebuilt to take advantage of a few decades of technology. There\'s a mild cam in the middle, giving it a suitably rumbly idle, plus an Edelbrock high-rise intake and 4-barrel carburetor up top. Designed more for practicality than for show, the engine bay is nonetheless clean and sanitary, with obvious signs of planning during the build. It also includes power steering and brakes, as well as a freshly-installed 700R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission spinning 3.55 gears in the 1960 Impala rear end out back. An 18-gallon fuel cell under the rear bed delivers the fuel, with the battery cleverly hidden in the tool box inside the bed. It\'s been subframed, so the front suspension rides well and it drives like a modern piece, and has an awesome stance. Glasspack-style mufflers give it a threatening exhaust note, and if you want to get noticed, even a blind man will know this is a cool truck. Classic Chevy Rally wheels look great and really stuff the fat fenders with fresh white-letter radials. A full-tilt custom, V8 power, and surprising practicality, you\'ll do a double-take on the price while everyone else does a double-take on the truck. Call today! LEARN TO RECOGNIZE GOOD DEALS FROM BAD:
Unfortunately, there are people out there who will use classifieds to get your money. Here are some ways to avoid these scams. Use skepticism and good judgment.
  1. Be wary if the price is notably below market value.
  2. Be prudent with International transactions. A good number of buyer/seller fraud attempts originate from overseas.
  3. Confirm contact information. Legitimate buyers/sellers will provide valid information, including phone.
  4. In almost every case scammers will convey a sense of urgency.
