Vehicle Description

For a lot of Shelby fans, the 1970 marks the end of the line, and if authenticity matters to you, this might be one of the most original 1970 GT350s in existence. Wearing mostly original paint, a gorgeous original interior, 100% matching numbers, and a lengthy list of fully-documented options, this is the ideal bookend to any top-flight Shelby collection. The 1970 Shelbys were pretty much leftover \'69s that were dressed up with unique black stripes on the hood and contrasting white stripes down their flanks. Even so, this is a great-looking car that seems far more sleek than the Mustang on which it\'s based. The custom-ordered and documented Grabber Blue paint is almost entirely original with only the driver\'s side quarter panel wearing post-1970 enamel. Overall, the car looks incredible, but when you take into account its age, it\'s downright stunning! Shelbys stood out from other Mustangs in a big way, starting with a totally unique nose and the fiberglass hood featuring no fewer than five NACA ducts to channel air in and out efficiently. A custom fiberglass deck lid and sequential taillights remained part of the package, and you can easily tell that this one is original and untouched just because of how the trunk fits-that\'s factory workmanship, and it is a great reminder that these were definitely not perfect cars on the showroom floor. Likewise, the interior is authentic and beautifully preserved. The high-back bucket seats show only very minor wear, certainly appropriate for the car\'s 46,162 original miles. The miles on this car are not documented year-to-year but the previous owners of the car all unanimously agree the mileage is true and correct. Carpets, door panels, headliner, and the fold-down rear seat are also extremely well preserved originals. All the gauges, including the auxiliary units neatly angled towards the driver on the console, are fully functional and the dealer-installed A/C system even has the original-style controls as if the factory had installed it. The Marti Report that accompanies this car says it originally had an 8-track, which is gone now but replaced with a correct 1970 Ford AM/FM stereo unit that works as it should. Even the trunk is finished with the original mat, and you can see by the texture inside the quarter panels that they are 100% factory-issue. The engine is the original, numbers-matching 351 4-barrel with Ram Air, an awesome performer in the relatively lightweight GT350. You\'ll note that the A/C carries a 1970 date-code tag to further verify its dealer-installed status, and the rest of the engine is neatly detailed with Ford Blue paint, finned aluminum valve covers, and correct items like the reproduction hoses and tower hose clamps. This is also an original 4-speed car, one of only 114 built, with a set of 3.25 gears in a Trac-Lok 9-inch rear axle. It truly sounds awesome with the glasspack-style mufflers underneath, and a glance at the undercarriage proves that this car has always been a cherished machine and not a daily driver. And those gorgeous cast aluminum wheels were specially made for the 1969-70 Shelbys, and wear 215/65/15 Goodyear radials. With extensive documentation including a Marti Report, purchase order (note the model year \"modification\" by Shelby Automotive), and the original invoice from 1969. Speed, style, provenance, and exceptional originality-if there\'s a more collectible 1970 Shelby, I can\'t imagine how it could be better than this. Call today! Unfortunately, there are people out there who will use classifieds to get your money. Here are some ways to avoid these scams. Use skepticism and good judgment.
  1. Be wary if the price is notably below market value.
  2. Be prudent with International transactions. A good number of buyer/seller fraud attempts originate from overseas.
