If you want a Mustang Cobra, this is the one to own: supercharged 4.6 DOHC engine, 6-speed transmission, fully independent suspension, and that amazing Mystic paint. Oh, and did we mention that it only has 1218 original miles? Your investment vehicle has arrived. Cobra Mustangs were always something special, and SVT pulled out all the stops when this car was built. Unquestionably the flagship of not only the SVT lineup, but of the entire Ford showroom, the Cobra needed to be more special-looking. And what better way to do it than by resurrecting that incredible paint (now called \"Mystichrome\"). First appearing on the 1996 Cobra, this incredible finish is expensive because of all the microscopic prisms embedded in its substrate. Depending on the angle, it\'s blue or black or green or turquoise or purple or some combination of all of the above. Love it or hate it, there\'s no denying that it makes people stop in their tracks when they see it. And perhaps in part due to its staggering $3650 price tag, there were only a handful built in this color, making this a special snake indeed. With only a handful of break-in miles, it remains in showroom condition with an impossible shine and completely untouched by rain, snow, or even harsh language. Looking for a perfect Cobra? This is as close as they come. With Mystichrome, even the interior gets in on the act. The standard Cobra buckets are supportive and comfortable, but in this car they also featured chromatic inserts that seem to change color just like the bodywork. Similar leather adorns the steering wheel at the 10 and 2 positions, and it really ties the whole car together. Like the exterior, the interior is virtually new with only the very slightest signs of someone sitting behind the wheel, but only a few times. Cobras were loaded with every accessory Ford could install, so there are no options, but things like power windows and locks, A/C, cruise, and a powerful AM/FM/CD changer stereo system. SVT adds goodies like custom white-faced gauges, drilled aluminum pedals, and a special shifter for the exclusive 6-speed manual transmission, so this is more than just a badged-up Mustang. While early complaints from Cobra owners focused on their cars not being different enough from a garden-variety pony, that\'s certainly not the case with this 2004 model. With a blower atop the 32-valve V8, it bellows out 390 horsepower and an equal amount of torque. It\'s channeled through the aforementioned 6-speed gearbox to a completely unique rear end that combines an 8.8-inch center section with a bespoke independent rear suspension that was unique to this model and never used again. Massive brakes were part of the Cobra package from Day One, and this one benefits from things like ABS, so performance is impressive. The exhaust sounds like ripping silk with an ever-so-subtle supercharger hum, so you\'ll relish running through the gears for the sound as much as for the performance. Flashy 17-inch chrome alloys finish the package and wear the original 275/40/17 Goodyear radials. Fully documented, including the original window sticker, this investment-grade Cobra is quite possibly the finest available anywhere. Cars like this won\'t be available at this price for much longer.
