Vehicle Description

Classic Car Marketing, Inc. Southern California’s premier marketing company is pleased to introduce this new listing offered for sale by one of our clients.
This 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible is one magnificent Mopar. Originally white with black and copper interior, this California car rolled off the assembly line with a 383, four barrel and 727 Torqueflite push button. During the restoration, the engine was upgraded to a 426 Max Wedge using mostly original, rare, factory parts. (In 1963, Plymouth only made 6 convertibles with the Max Wedge engine). Our client acquired the Sport Fury back in 2000 from a longtime friend who had started a cosmetic restoration, which included a paint re-spray and some interior work. He had also accumulated over a number of years all the necessary Max Wedge parts for the engine upgrade. The car was very solid, floor pans and rockers were original, with only the trunk pan having been replaced. All the trim was present and in good shape for the most part, needing only to be stripped and re-plated. Our client completely disassembled the car for a total ground up restoration. Every part, nut, and bolt was removed. The car was media blasted top to bottom, then it was shipped off for body and paint. All trim parts were either re-chromed or re-anodized and all the stainless polished. The suspension was rebuilt with new bushings, ball joints, tie rods and all suspension parts were taken down to bare metal and repainted. Starting with a solid 440 block, the engine was completely rebuilt by the previous owner using original Max Wedge heads, crossram intake and exhaust manifolds. While undergoing the complete restoration, the valve train was upgraded with a set of aluminum roller rockers, both carburetors were rebuilt and cosmetically restored, and an MSD 6AL ignition was added along with an MSD Pro Billet distributor. Every attempt has been made to make this motor appear as it would have in 1963, right down to the dual Carter 3447’s, Max Wedge radiator and 3 inch collectors with factory cutouts. Prior to going back in the car, the 0 mile engine was put through its paces on the dyno at Superior Automotive Engineering, making 480HP on 91 octane. The body was made laser straight by Silva’s in Huntington Beach, then sprayed with a single-stage red enamel. The interior with matching red accent was done by Fiber Technology and Design, also in Huntington Beach, with material supplied by SMS. The top was done by Mission Viejo Upholstery. The transmission was completely rebuilt by Tustin Transmission and a shift kit was added. Dale Reed did the final tuning once the car was together. Well known on the Southern California car show circuit, the car has won a number of awards including, Best Mopar Cruisin’ For a Cure 2002 and 2010, Best Mopar Mopars at Edlebrock 2003(chosen by Vic himself), Best Mopar San Clemente Car Show 2010, Best Open ’60 – ’65 Great Labor Day Cruise 2004 and 2009. Always garaged kept with indoor cover. Offered at fraction of the build cost at just $72,500 OBO.

LEARN TO RECOGNIZE GOOD DEALS FROM BAD:
Unfortunately, there are people out there who will use classifieds to get your money. Here are some ways to avoid these scams. Use skepticism and good judgment.
  1. Be wary if the price is notably below market value.
  2. Be prudent with International transactions. A good number of buyer/seller fraud attempts originate from overseas.
  3. Confirm contact information. Legitimate buyers/sellers will provide valid information, including phone.
  4. In almost every case scammers will convey a sense of urgency.
