Not many people will dispute the claim that the 1969 Mustang is a slam-dunk. This handsome convertible is a great example of doing more with less, and between the gorgeous paint and the muscular 302 under the hood, it\'s the ideal cruiser next summer when you want to hit the shows or the highway. Pulled from a modern color palette, the color-shifting burgundy paint job looks right on the vintage Mustang sheetmetal. It\'s actually somewhere between Candyapple Red and Indian Fire, and you should probably come up with a name anyway, since a lot of folks are going to be asking about it. This is the kind of car that makes people wave without realizing they\'re doing it, and total strangers will walk up to you and start treating you like their best friend. Clean sheetmetal certainly helps, and the shine is deep and smooth, thanks to a professional color sand and buff. LED taillights flash sequentially like today\'s Mustangs (which are mimicking the 1967 Shelbys which, of course, borrowed their taillights from the Thunderbird), and all the chrome and trim is in great shape, with much of it being original. A first-generation Mustang interior is always a great place to spend some time, especially when it\'s out for a drive in the sun. This car invites you inside with new seat covers, fresh black carpets, and a clean, crisp look that works very well with the bright exterior. The instrument panel is full of factory gauges that appear to be in original condition and still doing their job properly, with a wood-rimmed steering wheel for a \'60s performance vibe. There\'s a seriously upgraded stereo system, featuring an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit, along with seven Kicker speakers throughout the bodywork, including a subwoofer, plus a 600 amp amplifier in the neatly finished trunk. To enhance the stereo\'s performance, the interior has been lined in sound-deadening materials and even in a ragtop, it makes a difference. A/C was added in an under-dash unit, but you will probably prefer the alfresco version, which drops the white convertible top with the press of a button. Mustangs have always been about performance, and the 302 cubic inch V8 under the hood certainly delivers. Built by Patrick Kelly of Kelly Restorations, it runs a lot better than the stock F-code 2-barrel ever did. Topped by an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb atop a hi-rise intake that really lets the small block rev, you\'ll delight in the way it barks through the gears. Edelbrock also supplied the engine dress-up kit, and chrome Monte Carlo bars firm up the handling. A C4 3-speed automatic handles the gear changes, feeding a 9-inch rear, and the dual exhaust system has just the right combination of growl and mellow tone for a cruiser. And nobody can fault the choice of upgraded front disc brakes with Torque Thrusts wearing 215/60/15 front and 235/60/15 rear Cooper Cobra radials.
