1976 Mercedes-Benz 450SL Convertible for sale in our Chicago Showroom. This 76 Mercedes has 122,700 well cared for miles, with 25 years or receipts to prove it. It has the removable hard top, with a new soft top just installed. The brown interior of the Benz has been replaced and is in great shape. Other options like an aftermarket AM/FM cassette, power steering, power brakes, A/C (not working), Cruise Control, working power antenna, power windows, full gauges with a tachometer and clock, and newer radial tires. Mercedes Benz produced approximately 66,000 450 SL in 1976. The 450 SL was an FR-styled car, meaning the engine was located in the front and the car was rear-wheel-driven. US models sold from 1976 through 1979 used the Bosch K Jetronic system, an entirely mechanical fuel injection system. All US models used the 4.5 liter engine, and were called 450 SL/SLC. The Mercedes-Benz 450 SL had an 275.827 cubic inch (4.5 liter), V-8 engine with Bosch fuel injection. The motor had push rod and rocker actuated overhead valves with an overhead camshaft. With a bore and stroke of 3.62 inches by 3.35 inches, the compression ratio was 8.8-to-1. The 450SL had a torque rating of 278.5 foot-pounds at 3,000 rpm with 225 horsepower at 5,000 rpm. The cars went from 0 to 60 mph in 8.5 seconds with a manual gearbox; the automatics took 9.3 seconds.
