Vehicle Description

The 1976 Trans Am was a turning point for Pontiac. It proved in no uncertain terms that there was still a market for America\'s most versatile pony car. It was the first year for several styling cues that would stay with the car for the remainder of its life, and without this car, there would have been no Bandit just a few years later. Black and gold Trans Am paint jobs started with this car, a 50th anniversary special, which combined Starlight Black with all the gold tape stripes, decals, and screaming chickens that we\'ve come to love. Unfortunately for purists (but fortunately for the rest of us) the restorer chose to omit most of the glitz and glam of the original decals when the car was repainted, instead focusing on the deep black paint job that looks like a million bucks. The gold accents are still there on the grille and headlight bezels, but the lack of any other extraneous details gives this Trans Am a very sinister, purposeful appearance. If Dirty Harry were a car, this is what he\'d look like. Bodywork is excellent, as you\'d expect on a black car designed to attract attention, and all your favorite Trans Am components are still there, from the shaker hood (the last of the original design) to the ducktail spoiler. You\'ve never seen a mid-70s Trans Am look so sleek. The black bucket seat interior will look familiar to any Trans Am fan, as the design didn\'t evolve much during the \'70s. But what that really means is that they pretty much got it right. The seats are supportive, especially for the period, and workmanship was better than average giving it an upscale feel that the Mustang just couldn\'t touch. The engine-turned dash was a Trans Am tradition, but in Anniversary models it was gold, not silver, which is a unique touch that really stands out. The gauges are framed by a matching steering wheel with gold-toned spokes and a leather rim. For easy service in the future, the A/C system has been converted to R134a, and the original AM/FM radio still delivers the entertainment. Pontiac\'s 400 cubic inch V8 was the standard engine in 1976, and that\'s one heck of a base powerplant. Making big torque, it moves the sporty coupe easily with great V8 noises coming from the distinctive split tailpipes out back. The engine bay has been beautifully restored and highly detailed, from the shaker hood scoop, to the Pontiac Turquoise paint on the block, to the accessories that all wear correct finishes. I mean, it\'s spotless under the hood! A TH350 3-speed automatic handles gearshifts, there\'s a brand new exhaust system, and on the \'76 Trans Am anniversary model, those gorgeous honeycomb wheels were standard equipment. Today they wear 225/60/15 Goodyears. In the world of Trans Ams, this one is relatively rare, heavily documented, and complete with restoration receipts so you can buy with confidence. Call today! LEARN TO RECOGNIZE GOOD DEALS FROM BAD:
Unfortunately, there are people out there who will use classifieds to get your money. Here are some ways to avoid these scams. Use skepticism and good judgment.
  1. Be wary if the price is notably below market value.
  2. Be prudent with International transactions. A good number of buyer/seller fraud attempts originate from overseas.
  3. Confirm contact information. Legitimate buyers/sellers will provide valid information, including phone.
  4. In almost every case scammers will convey a sense of urgency.
