Although the Dodge coronet did not hit muscle car status until the late 1960\'s when they were decked out with the 426 Hemi and 440 Magnum engines, the 1953 model did show a hint of the power to come with the introduction of the optional 241 cu. inch Red Ram Hemi engine. That coronet with it is shiny new Hemi won over 100 land speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah.

Despite that grand claim the Dodge Coronet as a muscle car is still overshadowed by the successful introduction of the Dodge Charger in 1966, as well as other competing muscle cars from Plymouth and Ford.

Factory equipped group five accessory packages which included light package, rock guards, self-canceling turn signals, oversize deluxe heater and two speed electric wipers. This vehicle has absolutely no rust and has original cloth interior, no stains, no rips or tears. Exterior is original black enamel with lots of chrome.

Good condition wide whitewall tires all around and original wide whitewall spare in trunk with jack and lug wrench that has never been used.

The Dodge Coronet was introduced with the division\'s first postwar body styles. Lower trim lines were the Wayfarer and Meadowbrook. The only engine for Dodge was a 230-cubic-inch 3.8L flat-head straight six cylinder engine with a single barrel Stromberg carburetor, producing 103 horsepower. The stock Dodge Coronet was a smooth running car, and the six-cylinder engine could power the car to 90 miles per hour. A limited production model was a four-door, eight passenger limousine, an extended version of the stock Dodge Coronet. One of the most notable features of the first-generation Coronet was a three-speed, fluid-driven transmission that was operated by a foot pedal on the floor. It required no shifter.
