THIS IS A RARE PIECE OF CHICAGO HISTORY. BUILT IN CHICAGO, ILL FROM 1911-1916, MOST WERE 1/2 TON HIGHWHEELER EXPRESS TRUCKS BUILT BY MERCURY MFG CO. CHICAGO. THE FIRST MODELS WERE DELIVERY EXPRESS WHICH SOLD FOR $800.00 OPEN AND 850.00 ENCLOSED. ALL POWERED BY A HEALTHY 2 CYLINDER ENGINE. IN 1912, 5-1000 # MODELS WERE OFFERED FROM $750 TO 900.00. THEY WERE A WELL BUILT WORK HORSE THAT DELIVERED THE LIQUOR BARRELS TO THE BREWERYS. THIS RARE MERCURY IS A TOTALLY ORIGINAL SURVIVOR THAT RUNS GOOD WITH ORIGINAL SIDE CURTAINS THAT ARE NEARLY PETRIFIED. BELIEVED THE ONLY ONE KNOWN TO EXIST AND PROBABLY DELIVERED TO THE CHICAGO SPEAK EASYS BEFORE AND DURING PROHIBITION. THIS ONE WAS OWNED BY A CHICAGOLAND DISTRIBUTOR FOR OVER 70 YEARS.
