Vehicle Description

1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Sedanca de Ville. Coachwork by Hooper. The V12-powered Phantom III was a technical and stylistic tour de force. Code-named Spectre, it debuted at the 1935 Olympia Motor Show and was immediately acclaimed as the world’s most technically advanced production car. The overhead valve V12 engine had a one-piece aluminum alloy crankcase and cylinder block, aluminum head and cast-iron wet cylinder liners. The chassis was a cruciform-braced, box-girder design with a wishbone front suspension and semi-elliptic rear springs, and the four-speed gearbox had synchromesh on the top three gears. It also broke new ground as the first British car with hydraulic, self-adjusting tappets and driver-controlled hydraulic shock absorbers. No effort was spared to make it the ultimate in refinement. Chassis 3CM197, the car offered here, features very attractive formal Sedanca de Ville coachwork by Hooper and numerous period features including a badge bar, dual horns, Lucas headlamps, dual CAV 700 driving lamps, dual side mounted spare tires, disc-type wheel covers and an opening windshield to provide ventilation for the chauffeur. This car has been sitting in a museum for a long time and is in not in a running condition. For $69,500.
LEARN TO RECOGNIZE GOOD DEALS FROM BAD:
Unfortunately, there are people out there who will use classifieds to get your money. Here are some ways to avoid these scams. Use skepticism and good judgment.
  1. Be wary if the price is notably below market value.
  2. Be prudent with International transactions. A good number of buyer/seller fraud attempts originate from overseas.
  3. Confirm contact information. Legitimate buyers/sellers will provide valid information, including phone.
  4. In almost every case scammers will convey a sense of urgency.
