Vehicle Description

The LaSalle was tremendously popular at its introduction, but by 1932 sales plummeted. In these dark days the Cadillac division was losing money, so few funds were available for new car development, and there were even rumors of discontinuing LaSalle. In the end, a reprieve was granted in 1934 thanks to yet another styling triumph by Harley Earl, as well as a host of mechanical enhancements including a new chassis, a new eight-cylinder engine, hydraulic brakes, and a modern independent front front suspension design.

This 1936 LaSalle Series 50 Five-Passenger Sedan is an early production example with approximately 75,000 actual miles from new. It retains the majority of its formal black exterior finish and is complemented by very good brightwork, dual amber fog lights, and dual chrome-plated rearview mirrors. The gray cloth upholstery and headliner are mostly original to the car. Approximately $4,000 was recently spent to overhaul the chassis, including new bushings.

Overall, this interesting and stately 1936 LaSalle Five-Passenger Sedan is presented in attractive and period correct condition, and is a very fit running example that is easily capable of operation at today's highway speeds. It remains a tangible link to the legendary Harley Earl and his inspired genius.
Unfortunately, there are people out there who will use classifieds to get your money. Here are some ways to avoid these scams. Use skepticism and good judgment.
  1. Be wary if the price is notably below market value.
  2. Be prudent with International transactions. A good number of buyer/seller fraud attempts originate from overseas.
  3. Confirm contact information. Legitimate buyers/sellers will provide valid information, including phone.
  4. In almost every case scammers will convey a sense of urgency.
