FOR SALE: Rare 64 Imperial Convertible

This car is my baby. For the last 30 years -- I've always had a Chrysler or Imperial convertible for Sunday drives. There's nothing like cruising down a country road at 70 in a land barge that virtually floats on air.

I bought this car some years back from the mechanic who taken care of the car since new. It was given to him by an old lady in a nursing home -- who was given the car by her husband in 1964 for her 50th birthday.

This car is original and had the best of care taken of it. There is a small area on the back of the car that for some reason is bleach to a lighter color. I'm not sure, nor was the mechanic, what would have caused it. He says it has been like that for 35 years. The radio does not work. I've disconnected the cruise control as it was of a design not ready for prime time. It is all there -- just disconnected from the carb. The air conditioner worked the last time I turned it on -- but it too has two vents on the dash by the windshield making it not quite ready for prime time. None of them cooled well enough -- at least for the Texas Summers. But then again, the car is meant to be driven with the top down. The odometer stopped working a few years ago at about 86K -- when I was setting the trip meter. I might have put 2000 miles on it since. It runs and drives well -- and I'd not have a qualm of driving it anywhere in the country. I often take drives of 100-150 miles.

Of the 64-66 models of Imperials -- I've always liked the 64s best as it was a "typewriter Shifter" aka push button drive. No shifter on the steering column. Very few of these cars were made -- and of the examples remaining -- I'd bet this one to be in the top 5% condition. It is an excellent "Survivor".
