To avoid becoming a victim of fraud, use a healthy dose of skepticism and your own good judgment when dealing with strangers over the internet.

• Be wary if an item is priced notably below market value.
• Be prudent with international transactions. A good number of buyer/seller fraud attempts originate from overseas.
• Confirm contact information. Legitimate buyers/sellers will provide valid information, including phone numbers.
• Scammers usually convey a sense of urgency - don't be rushed into a decision.
