Getting Ready for Your First Classic Car Show

Posted by Steve White on Nov 07, 2013

It’s no secret that entering your classic car into car shows is one of the most enjoyable parts of owning a classic car. If you’re interested in entering your car for the first time, you might be wondering how to go about making an excellent presentation. Here are a few tips to help you get started.

Review The Rulebook

Car shows are all different, and what works for one might not work for another. So obtain a copy of your upcoming show’s rulebook so you can be sure you’re following all of the guidelines to the letter.

Add An Accessory

While your car is sure to be the center of attention, it’s a good idea to add some interesting accessories to your display. For example, if your car was a restoration project, showcase a scrapbook that illustrates the restoration project from start to finish.

Consult A Mechanic

Find the name of a good, trustworthy classic car mechanic in your area. It’s not necessary for your car to be “original”, but a mechanic will be able to advise you about any work that should be done prior to entering your car in the show.

And last but not least? Enjoy the show! You’ll meet fascinating people there, and they’ll be car lovers too. However, be careful. Car shows can be quite addicting!
