The Antique Automobile Club of America
Posted by Steve White on Nov 02, 2009The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) is dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of classic cars and other vehicles, such as race cars, fire vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, and electric bicycles. The club also takes interest in automobile power sources such as steam, electricity, gasoline, and diesel.
The AACA was established by Frank Abramson and Theodore Fiala in the year 1935. It was the only antique automobile club in the US at that time, and it had an initial membership of 14 automobile enthusiasts. Throughout the years, the club has organized numerous events to promote interest in automobiles, including cross country trips, auto shows, tours, and seminars. It also published a magazine called the Antique Automobile.
Club membership had increased from 850 in 1948 to more than 50,000 in 1985, and it continues to grow in the following years. Today, the AACA has achieved the distinction of being the largest antique automobile club in the world, and it has more than 400 regional divisions and chapters in all the 50 US states as well as a number of foreign countries.
To participate in the events and discussions that are organized by the Antique Automobile Club of America, you can sign up for membership at the AACA official website.
