Monterey Auction not great for Everyone in Attendance

Posted by Steve White on Sep 11, 2013

For the first time in Monterey’s Classic Car Weekend history three classic autos were reported stolen from this year’s event. All three were Chevrolets – a 1957 Bel-Air and a 1961 Impala were reported missing from the Del Monte Golf Course Hyatt Regency Hotel holding area for cars up for auction. The third Chevrolet, a 1961 Impala, was taken from a secured lot at Fisherman’s Warf after being shown earlier in the day at a different auction.

According to the police it will be hard to sell these cars or “part them out” once reported stolen so hopefully they may just be returned anonymously but that may be wishful thinking. Classic car insurance is relatively inexpensive but the necessary precautions must be made and hopefully these vehicles were covered even if they are not garaged in their normal location.
