RM Auctions, the world’s premier auction house for collector automobiles, will be lifting the hammer on a series of high-profile celebrity vehicles at its Monterey event this weekend.

Among the vehicles crossing the block, the ones that are expected to draw the most interest are four stunning vehicles that were formerly owned by legendary actor Steve McQueen. These cars include a 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf/Mirage Racing Car, 1956 Fiat Series 306/2 Grand Prix Transporter, 1961 Cooper T-56 Mark II Formula Junior Racing Car, and 1953 Hudson Hornet Sedan. Other star attractions of the auction include a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta 14-Louver Tour de France, which co-starred alongside “Herbie” in the classic movie Love Bug, and a 1965 Shelby 427 Competition Cobra, which appeared in the popular Formula One movie Grand Prix.

RM Auctions’ 2012 Monterey sale will be held on the 17th and 18th of August, 2012 at the Portola Hotel and Spa and the Monterey Conference Center in Monterey, California.
