UK Resident Joy Rainey will be driving a 1904 Curved Dash Oldsmobile Runabout in an epic cross country trip through America in hopes of raising 20,000 pounds for British cancer research. She is decidedly not a superstitious person as she will start the trip on April 13, 2013 in Oceanside California. She hopes to arrive in Daytona Beach Florida on May 13. You can keep up with her on Twitter and Face book – just refer to the news story above on the Old Cars Weekly website for more information.
Joy is a veteran of speed hill climbs, she was in the London to Sydney marathon in 2004 and some of the Royal Automobile Club’s London to Brighton runs. Her first participation in that drive in 2001 saw her driving a 1901 Clement Voiturette which didn’t finish the race. We wish her and her cause well.
