This coming Thanksgiving, thousands of classic car enthusiasts from across the US will be making their way to Daytona Beach to witness and participate in the biggest classic car gathering in the southeast. The Daytona Turkey Run is a classic car show and swap meet that takes place around Thanksgiving Day every year, and it is held at the famous Daytona International Speedway. This year, the 4-day event will begin on the 26th of November.

Visitors to the 2009 Daytona Turkey Run can expect to see more than 5,000 splendid classic cars on display. All types of show-quality automobiles will be represented at the car show, including muscle cars, street rods, vintage cars, sports cars, race cars, customs, and trucks. There will also be a car corral where over 1,500 cars will be put up for sale, as well as an auction by Vicari Motor Sports that feature some of the finest vintage and classic automobiles. More than 4,000 stalls will be set up at the swap meet, offering a huge selection of auto parts and accessories.

The Daytona Turkey Run promises a most exciting Thanksgiving weekend for all classic car owners and enthusiasts. Show hours are 8 am to 4 pm from Thursday to Saturday and 8 am to 2 pm on Sunday. Full-day tickets for adults are priced at $15 from Thursday to Saturday and $10 on Sunday. Children under the age of 11 can enter free if they are accompanied by adults.

Nickey Chicago Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals

The Nickey Chicago Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is one of the most highly anticipated classic car events in the Midwest. It features a gathering of the finest muscle cars, collectible cars, Corvettes, and Supercars in the country, as well as other exciting automobile-related activities. The two-day event begins on the 21st of November, 2009 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, which is located near the O’Hare Airport.

The 8th Annual Winter Park Concours d’Elegance

The Winter Park Concours d’Elegance has grown in reputation in recent years to become one of the most-anticipated automobile shows on the east coast. It is a two-day event that begins on the 7th of November, and it will be held in Winter Park, Florida. Last November, the event drew more than 40,000 auto enthusiasts from all over the country.

The 8th edition of the Winter Park Concours d’Elegance will feature more than 120 prestigious classic cars and modern automobiles. Six blocks of Park Avenue in Winter Park will be closed to create space for the competition, and the cars will be judged by a group of judges who are renowned experts in specific categories of automobiles. Visitors can expect a line-up of cars that is comparable in quality and variety as those that are featured in world-class concours events in Pebble Beach, California and Amelia Island, Florida.

The concours d’elegance will be held from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, with the awards presentation ceremony taking place at 3.30 pm. Patrons of the event will be setting up tents along the tree-lined avenue to showcase their products and services to potential buyers. Proceeds from the 2009 Winter Park Concours d’Elegance will benefit the Winter Park Community Center as well as the Orlando Ballet.

Spectacular Classic Car Events at the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance

The Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance and Motoring Festival is a highly-anticipated annual classic car festival that features lots of exciting events. This festival will be held from the 30th of October to the 1st of November in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

One of the main events of the festival is a two-day track event called the Savannah/Hilton Head Speed Classic. Spectators can expect to see a great line-up of high-performance classic cars in action at the Hutchinson Island track, a former venue for Indy Lights races. Race participants will test and tune their cars on the 29th of October, and the races will begin the following day.

On the last day of the festival, the Concours d’Elegance will he held at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. This wonderful event will feature about 150 pre-1980 classic cars and motorcycles, and a few of these vehicles will be selected as winners for different competition categories. This year, Mercedes-Benz is chosen as the Honored Marque of the Concours d’Elegance.

Other interesting events of the Hilton Head Island Concours d’Elegance and Motoring Festival include the Savannah Driving Tour, Motoring Midway, Car Club Jamboree, Friday Night Drivers’ Reception, Happy Hour in the Square, the Southern Belle Fashion Show, and the Flavors of the Lowcountry Oyster Roast.

Grand Gathering of Classic Cars at the Circuit des Remparts d’Angoulême

One of the grandest European classic car events took place in Angoulême, France from the 18th to the 20th of September, 2009. The 70th edition of the Circuit des Remparts d’Angoulême attracted tens of thousands of classic car enthusiasts from all over the world, and more than 750 vehicles participated in the shows and rallies that were held during the event.

Some of the most popular events of the Circuit des Remparts d’Angoulême include the Charente rally, the Concours d’Elegance, and the Sunday race. This year, more than 170 automobiles took part in these events, and most of them were British vehicles. The winners of the Charente rally was Patrick La Masne, who drove a 1962 Triumph TR3B, Patrick Bonnetain in a 1959 Triumph TR3A, and Didier Cohendet in a 1974 Peugeot 504 Cabriolet.

The Concours d’Elegance featured an impressive line-up of classic cars. A 1904 Pierre Roy, which is owned by Francis Lecornu, was declared the winner of the event. The runner-up was a 1932 Chevrolet Confederate Cabriolet, which belongs to Glawdys Jacquemin, and the third prize went to a 1907 Lorraine Dietrich, which is owned by Jean-Marie Prince.
