The Allure of the Automobile Exhibition

The High Museum of Art in Atlanta will be hosting The Allure of the Automobile exhibition from the March 21 to June 20, 2010. This exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the evolution of automobile throughout the years, specifically the changes in automotive production before and after the Second World War. It will also examine the difference between American and European automobiles.

A total of 18 rare and stunning classic cars will be on display during the Allure of the Automobile exhibition. These cars were produced between the 1930s and mid-1960s, which was a very illustrious era in the history of auto-manufacturing. Visitors will get to see two of the most impressive Mercedes Benz models ever made, namely, a 1955 300 SLR and a 1937 540K Special Roadster, as well as award-winning cars, record-breaking race cars, and celebrity-owned cars. Of particular interest are cars that were once owned by legendary actors Steve McQueen and Clark Gable.

The opening hours of the High Museum of Art are 10.00 am to 5.00 pm from Tuesday to Saturday, except for Thursday when it is open from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm. On Sunday, the hours are 12.00 pm to 5.00 pm. Admission fees are $18.00 for adults and $15.00 for students and seniors. Take note that the museum tickets are timed, meaning that you can only view special exhibits during a specified hour.

RM Auction: The Collector Cars of Fort Lauderdale

The much-awaited RM Auction, Collector Cars of Ford Lauderdale, is just 10 days away. This 3-day event will begin on the 26th of March at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The auction will feature some of the finest automobiles ever made, and it is expected to draw more than 20,000 collector car enthusiasts.

Hundreds of prized vehicles will cross the block throughout the duration of the auction, ranging from vintage and classic cars to race cars and trucks. Attendees will get the chance to see and purchase a number of rare and high-profile vehicles, such as the Boyd Coddington-designed 1932 Ford Boydster II, 1958 Vespa 400 Convertible used in the “When in Rome” movie, 1964 Studebaker Avanti R3, 1965 Brabham BT15 F-3 race car, 1966 Batmobile Recreation, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Coupe built by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., 1971 Dodge Challenger Convertible featured in the “Mod Squad” television series, and Frank Sinatra-owned 1989 Jaguar XJ-S Coupe. The auction will offer 140 vehicles from the estate of avid collector John O’Quinn.

Legends of Riverside II: A Reunion of Legendary Drivers and Cars

The Legends of Riverside is an annual event that features the gathering of famous drivers and cars that participated in competitions held at the legendary 3-mile Riverside road racing track. This much-awaited festival will take place at the Riverside International Automotive Museum in Riverside, California from the 26th to the 28th of March, 2010.

More than 40 famous racing legends will be present at the event, and they include Carroll Shelby, Bruce, Kessler, Howden Ganley, George Follmer, Dan Gurney, Denise McCluggage, Scooter Patrick, John Morton, Jerry Grant, Davey Jordan, and many others. The guest of honor for this year’s event is Carroll Shelby, who is known for his wild and fearless racing style as well as victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only 150 paying guests will be attending the festival, and this makes it possible for them to get up close and personal with the racing stars. Vehicles that will be on display during the event include classic cars that competed in major racing events such the Indy, Can Am, F5000, and USRRC, as well as a number of significant Shelby cars.

The Legends of Riverside will also be presenting a great lineup of racing films, which include the Can Am Thunder, Le Mans, Winning, Once Upon a Wheel, The Sound of Speed, The Cannonball Rally, and others. Other than the legends gala and film festival, there will also be award presentations, an art and photograph exhibition, and a silent auction.

2010 Kruse Rocket City Collector Car Auction

Classic car enthusiasts will get the opportunity to view and purchase some of the finest collector cars at the 3rd Kruse Rocket City Collector Car Auction. This auction will take place at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville on the 13th of March, 2010, and it is known as one of the most anticipated collector car auctions in Alabama.

More than 100 automobiles are expected to cross the block throughout the duration of the auction, and these include cars from well-known American manufacturers such as Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, and Pontiac. A number of Harley Davidson motorcycles will also be available for bidding. The vehicles that are offered at the auction range from vintage cars from the 1930s to modern cars of the 2000s. A few of the interesting classic cars that will be put up for sale include a 1932 Ford Highboy, 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Pace Car, and 2001 Plymouth Prowler.

The Kruse Rocket City Collector Car Auction will commence at 10.00 am, and admission fee is $10.00 for adults. Those who are parking their cars at the Von Braun Center are required to pay a fee of $5.00. Registration fee for bidders is $30.00, and car buyer premium is 10%. The Goodguys 1st Spring Nationals

The Goodguys Rod and Custom Association is known as the largest hot rod and custom association in the world, and it organizes more than 20 dynamic auto events in various parts of the United States every year. This year, the association will be holding its 1st annual Spring Nationals at the Westworld in Scottsdale, Arizona from March 12 to 14, and the event will feature fabulous displays of automobiles as well as a wide range of interesting auto-related activities.

Visitors to the Goodguys 1st Spring Nationals can expect to see more than 2,000 stunning hot rods, customs, muscle cars, classic cars, trucks, and street machines on display. Some of these vehicles have been remodeled and painted with exciting colors, and they create an amazing visual spectacle when they are lined up at the exhibition grounds. Besides the auto show, there will also be a swap meet, a hot rod cruise, model and pedal car show, the Goodguys Builders’ Choice Awards competition, and others. Those who are interested in testing the performance of their cars and their driving skills can take part in the Street Challenge Autocross.

The Goodguys 1st Spring Nationals will be held from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm on Friday and Saturday and 8.00 am to 3.00 pm on Sunday. Admission is priced at $18.00 for adults and $6.00 for children aged 7 to 12. A parking fee of $5.00 will be charged by Westworld.
