The Chevy 454SS practically invented the performance truck, and if you\'re looking for one of these groundbreaking vehicles to complete your collection, this ultra-rare Summit White one is the logical choice. Chevy didn\'t keep track of the production figures by color, but only about 1300 454SS pickups were built in 1992, and white was by far the least commonly ordered color. This one shows a documented 58,611 original miles and has not been modified or abused, instead living its life as a cherished collectable from day one. The paint is almost factory fresh, the decals haven\'t faded or peeled, and the overall look is definitely high performance. The lone modification is a low-profile bed cap that gives it a unique look and creates the world\'s biggest water-tight trunk area underneath. Blacked-out trim was part of the 454SS package, as well as color-matched bumpers, all of which are in great shape with few signs of use. If this truck has ever seen anything more violent than a spring shower, I\'d be surprised. It\'s that nice. By 1992, Chevy was offering more colors inside the SS, and the light blue setup here is a great complement to the Summit White paint. Showing virtually zero wear, even on the driver\'s seat, it\'s more evidence of this truck\'s excellent care and low mileage. The SS came only one way-loaded-and that included things like A/C, a tilt wheel, power windows and locks, and cruise control. A full complement of gauges, including a tachometer, was fitted and Corvette owners might see more than a passing resemblance in the gauges themselves. The factory AM/FM/cassette stereo is situated high in the instrument panel, so it\'s easy to reach, but for reasons only GM knows, the graphic equalizer was stashed way over on the other side of the dash. Fortunately, it all works just fine. The 454SS\'s real claim to fame was the old muscle car formula: big engine, small body. Taking a regular cab/short bed pickup and planting a 454 cubic inch big block under the hood was a natural choice for guys who grew up with LS6 Chevelles and 427/435 Corvettes. By 1992, the SS\'s big block was sporting 235 horsepower and a towering 405 pounds of torque, all harnessed by a 4L80E 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission. It makes so much torque that on upshifts, the engine doesn\'t slow down to match road speed, the whole truck is actually yanked up to the engine\'s speed. And this one is completely unmodified! It\'s also spotless under the hood, with someone taking the time to tidy it up each time the truck was washed-it probably looks better today than it did when it was new. The A/C has been converted to R134a refrigerant and a true dual exhaust system was installed which sounds amazing. The original chrome 454SS wheels look awesome and wear 275/60/15 white-letter radials. A genuine collectable, no Chevy collection is complete without a 454SS, and there aren\'t many nicer than this.
