While we weren\'t looking, Trans Ams have skyrocketed in value. Not all of them mind you, but cool limited-edition pieces like this 1980 pace car are currently highly regarded collector pieces. With a great look, awesome graphics package, and a futuristic interior, the Turbo Trans Ams have rightfully taken their place among the great muscle cars of history. A lot of times, white paint can be blah, but when you see how the futuristic Trans Am pace cars look, you\'ll change your mind. With a high-tech look that still seems right today, the white paint with silver and black graphics is a great way to make a high-profile statement without resorting to loud colors. This T/A has been repainted just once and the graphics were expertly reapplied using exact reproductions, so it has a highly correct look overall. There\'s no fading, no peeling, and no crazing on any of the vinyl decals, and things like the black bumper and cool tinted taillights out back remain in outstanding condition with no UV damage. Even 32 years later, if you show up in one of these, people tend to notice. Pontiac was able to very astutely capture a performance image with the interior without going overboard. The deeply padded bucket seats offer a sporty checkered pattern cloth insert that is far more grippy than leather might be, and the engine-turned dash is a sports car tradition dating back to the \'teens. With a leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel, it\'s easy to imagine pulling on a set of string-backed driving gloves before setting off, and it\'s all in extremely good condition. All the stock gauges are fully functional, and there are options like A/C and an automatic transmission, so you have a nice dose of luxury to go with your sport. The only notable deviation from pure stock is the Alpine AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that delivers enough power to sound great even with the T-tops off. In the trunk, you will still find the original space-saver spare that\'s never been used, complete with inflator bottle and jack assembly. Pontiac engineers were ahead of the curve with their turbocharged V8, and with the demise of the 400 a year earlier, they envisioned it as the performance wave of the future. Their vision was correct, and they did a great job with the technology available at the time, as the turbo motor delivers a nice wallop of torque once the boost is up. The engine bay is nicely preserved and remarkably clean, with all the original equipment intact. Everything appears in order, and it runs very well with a subtle wooshing exhaust note from the stock pipes and catalytic converter. Four-wheel discs were standard equipment, and they live behind those beautiful cast aluminum wheels that were painted to match the body and wear oversized 235/60/15 BFGoodrich radials.
