1970 Plymouth Superbird Clone
Any true Mopar fan can tell you of the importance of the Plymouth Superbird and what it did for the Chrysler Corporation. It was an amazing piece of automotive engineering well ahead of its time that surpassed many expectations. This is why it is one of the most sought after Mopar collector cars! True versions of this masterpiece are rare and fetch top dollar, three hundred thousand and more in some cases has been spent to acquire these beauties. Most of them are tucked away in private collections or museums to be preserved so future generations can see and learn the story of their great accomplishments. Very rarely is one seen on the road.
That is where this car came in to play. What we have for sale here is more than your average clone or replica car. It all started with a 1970 Plymouth Satellite stripped completely down for a complete frame off restoration. It was then decided to make it a truly awesome car and what better than the Superbird. This car was built to be driven and enjoyed thoroughly while paying homage to the original masterpiece! It was meticulously built down to the very last detail, from the long front nose section to the enormous wing above the rear deck, and many others in-between, front fender scoops, road runner horn, woodgrain pistol grip shifter, Sublime Green paint job, etc…
As with all true muscle car enthusiasts we strive to make our cars the best they can possibly be. This is exactly has been done here, from the twin hood scoops badged HEMI that insure the beast lurking beneath gets all the fresh cool air it needs, to the moser 875 fully fabricated rear-end with trutrac posi to make sure the 31X18.50-15LT Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro series tires transfer the massive power of this monster to the road it wants so desperately wants to shove from beneath it. The engine started as a 426 HEMI but was transformed into a truly magnificent mix of raw power and dependability. The engine was built up to a 472 HEMI with low enough compression to accept being force fed air and fuel by the procharger set up we installed on top of it. Ignition is handled by a full MSD system, 6AL, Pro Billet Distributor, Timing Control Module, and Rev Limiter. The fuel system is composed of Magnafuel and Aeromotive components with custom AN lines plumbed throughout and a 16 gallon fuel cell with sending unit. Exhaust is routed through a set of Dougs ceramic coated headers, a full 3” stainless with Magnaflow mufflers and electric cut outs. I must say that when you flip the switch to open the exhaust it sounds like you have released a Tyrannosaurus Rex! The cooling system was built to allow the car to be driven with confidence, from the aluminum radiator to the variable speed Flex-A- Lite fan system. The transmission is a TCI built torque flite unit transferring powers through the rearend nestled under a fully tubbed rear floor pan with a high enough gear ratio to cruise down the interstate comfortably yet still terrorize any asphalt it rolls across. The brakes have been upgraded to discs at all four corners with an electric over hydraulic master cylinder system that has no problems taming this monster. We also installed a stand-alone vacuum pump to handle proper functioning of the hidden headlights. This car can also be taken to the track and romped on for unbelievable enjoyment and done so confidently. The car is built with all certified components including a roll cage. This car is ready to go from the track to the car show and all roads between and enjoy some good tunes along the way thanks to the Pioneer sound system. Everything on this vehicle is literally brand new. Running out of room for other projects we are working on so sadly it is time for this one to move on and find a new home.
