FOR SALE: 1970 Buick GSX
Ask around about the fastest, nastiest muscle car of all time, and you\'ll probably hear a lot of guys say LS6 Chevelle, Hemi \'Cuda, and even Boss 429, but when it comes to laying down raw power, no stock muscle car could touch the mighty Buick GSX. This 1970 GSX is number 339 of only 678 built, and although the stock one made 510 pounds of torque, apparently the original owner decided it wasn\'t enough and sent it to Motion Performance for a BIG horsepower upgrade. The car you see before you is the result, and it\'s simply stunning. We hesitate to use words like \"perfect\" and \"flawless\" when it comes to cars, but this sucker comes awfully close to deserving both of those adjectives. A multiple award-winner and featured in numerous magazine articles, books, and calendars, it is simply jaw-dropping in person. In fact, if you\'ve ever seen pictures anywhere before of a yellow 70 GSX Motion Performance car, there are very good odds this is the actual car you saw. Of course, the Saturn Yellow paint was never designed to be subtle, and the GSX graphics only add to the effect, from the blacked-out hood to the side stripes that wrap around the decklid spoiler. Metalwork is first-rate, without a ripple or blemish anywhere to be found, and we have restoration photos showing the car\'s transformation. Fit and finish are concours-grade, with exemplary gaps and a precision in the hinges that feels far more expensive than the car was in 1970. Someone really sweated the details here. A correct black bucket seat interior has been restored to factory specifications, and as a gentleman\'s hot rod, the Buick didn\'t skimp on luxury like some other brands did. The seats are beautifully stitched, the console offers the world\'s coolest automatic shifter, and it even includes a tilt wheel and factory A/C, an option that was simply not available on the LS6, Hemi, or Boss. The gauges have been rebuilt, including the hood-mount tachometer, and perhaps more interesting is that this appears to be a factory radio-delete car, surely making one of only a handful of GSXs with A/C and no radio. But considering its history, perhaps that\'s not so hard to believe after all. The big story on this particular GSX is that it was perhaps the only such car to take a trip through Motion Performance\'s shop when it was new. Those Motion badges aren\'t just for show, because under the hood is a correct Motion 455 cubic inch Buick V8 built to exceed Stage I specifications. Up top there\'s a 980 CFM Holley and a correct Edelbrock B4B intake, as well as a ton of period go-fast hardware. Motion added their own branded valve covers, which are still on the car, and those Mickey Thompson Competition Plus headers are probably worth about what a rebuilt Chevy big block might cost. It\'s all very nicely detailed and, of course, stupefyingly fast, thanks to the quick-shifting TH400 behind it and the 4.10s out back. It gets a big assist from a set of vintage Lakewood traction bars, as well as those ultra-rare Mickey Thompson Indy Profile tires mounted on a period Keystones. Wow! This is the ultimate evolution of arguably the fastest muscle car of all. Expensive? Maybe, but if you\'re a Buick fan, this is the only one - fully documented, and restored to what has become-dare I say it-perfect. If you\'re that guy, call us today!
