As the collector car market goes up and down, some special vehicles prove that a down economy just doesn‴ affect them the same as others.  The Mercedes Benz 280SL roadster, or Pagoda, is definitely one of those vehicles.  It has been on a soaring price increase over the last 10 years that is truly remarkable!  And for good reason!  When one looks at now famous Mercedes autos of the past, such as the SSK, 500K, 300SL Gullwing and Roadster, you can easily find beautiful cars from each decade that have become a multi 6-figure investment!  This is why many investors who have missed their opportunity have turned their attention to the 1970″ generation of Mercedes Pagoda SL″!  These stunning cars offer superb design, increased driver refinements, and better performance to their owners making them not just excellent investment choices to hang on to, but wonderful cars to drive on today″ roads!

The St. Louis Car Museum is very excited to offer this 1969 Mercedes Benz 280SL convertible finished in Signal Red paint over Black Leather interior with matching Black soft top!  This car is a largely untouched original example with exception to a professional cosmetic restoration.  The original interior seating upholstery was replaced for new along with refinishing all the original wood trim to a gorgeous shine, and new floor carpeting to add a fresh, clean interior appearance!  It was treated to a Zeibart rust-proofing early on which preserved this car″ structure magnificently!  The exterior was repainted from its original code, 542-Dark Red, to Signal Red and fitted with a new Stayfast cloth soft top all completed in approximately 2007.  Options include USA version VDO English gauges, 4-speed manual transmission, power 4-wheel disc brakes, working Becker Mexico TR AM/FM radio, light-alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P400 radial tires, European style H4 headlamps, dual outside rear view mirrors, original seatbelts, trunk light, and power steering!

This car will come with original owner manual, and a complete trunk kit with spare tire cover, trunk mat, jack, tire wedge, and tool kit!  The under hood and trunk surround spot welds are clearly visible, along with matching body number stamps on the hood and convertible top storage cover edges.  The odometer reading on our example is showing 95,270 miles, which we believe to be actual from new, although we do not have enough evidence to support such a claim.  This particular vehicle has recently received new suspension bushings, new tires, new front brake calipers, brake pads, brake hoses, new fuel pump, shifter bushings, air filter, and oil/filter change.  It truly runs and drives as good as it looks making for a great investment ready for immediate enjoyment!  Everything remains in working order right down to the clock and glove box map light.  Chances to purchase Pagodas surviving in this condition are growing extremely difficult!  Act quickly as many cars of this caliber are sought after throughout the world!  The St. Louis Car Museum reserves the right to end this listing at any time.  Please feel welcome to call with any questions!
