For sale -1964 Ford Galaxie 500 hardtop fastback. Purchased at Valenti Classics in Caledonia WI in 2005. This Galaxie spent its life in Oklahoma and when it was purchased it was near perfect without rust or body damage. The 390 ran strong and the 4 speed worked perfect.
After enjoying the car for a summer I decided to have the 390 pulled out and refreshened. I had a professional engine builder do the work. The engine and tranny came out and the tranny was rebuilt and a new clutch and pressure plate was added of course along with the throwout bearing. The engine we decided to build up to be a strong runner. Here is a short summation of what was done. Line bored to 401 cubes. new pistons, new rods, new roller cam and roller lifters. New aluminum Edelbrock heads and intake. Topped off with a new Holley 780 dual pump. To breath we added Hooker headers and magnaflow exhaust. To spark the big block we added a msd ignition system. Next in order to accommodate the higher compression we added a 4 core aluminum radiator and electric fans. I had no reason to dyno the engine and the builder estimates it to be at least 450 HP. The shifting is done with the Hurst 4 speed. The rear end had 3.50 ratio gears and we added a 3.89 rear gear set (or third member). The 3.50 goes with the sale
Next we tweak tuned it to run perfect and I enjoyed it for another summer.
The body was excellent on the car but the paint was a bit faded so I hired a professional car restorer to paint it. He said that you do not just paint a classic like this. So the Ford had all the glass taken out, all the chrome removed and the paint was removed to bare metal. Dupont Variprime etching primer and Dupont Acrylic urethane primer was used to surface prep for paint. Then the Black Chromabase was shot along with 6 coats of Dupont chroma clear. The finish was sanded with 1000 wet, 1200 wet, 1500 wet, and finally 3000 wet and foam pad buffed to a stunning finish. I forgot to mention that the chrome on the car is like new!!
This Galaxie is beautiful and runs very very strong.
Never driven in the rain, never dumped the clutch although my foot has been in the carb on several occasions. Stored inside. I expect I have 3000-4000 on the car since it was rebuilt and redone.. The chassis we left alone as it is still perfect as new. Also not to forget the red interior that is perfect!!

If you are looking for a BEAUTIFUL 64 GALAXIE, look no further. I am asking $25000. I have much much more invested. I have many trophies I have won at various car shows and have had great fun with my Galaxie but it is simply time for it to go.
