FOR SALE: 1963 Chevrolet Impala
This 1963 Chevrolet Impala is for all you guys who tend to nit-pick cars. You know, you go to buy it but decide that since there\'s some dirt on the chassis, it\'s just not good enough for you. Well, this award-winner is every bit as nice as you guys with ultra-high standards need it to be, so save yourself the time and skip the one you were originally planning to look at - we\'ve found this one for you. A Riverside Red hardtop is hardly unusual, but when you see how beautifully restored this one is, I think you\'ll sit up and take notice. The sheetmetal is almost impossibly straight, with gaps so even and tight that from certain angles it\'s tough to see where the door ends and the quarter panel begins. Seams are aligned, body and trim pieces are straight, and someone probably spent the better part of a work week just buffing the paint to get it to shine like this. The \'63 is popular because of its simplicity, just a single strip of stainless along the lower edge of the body, giving it a racier look than some of its flashier siblings. Of course, it still has the trademark Impala triple taillights, and all the chrome that it does carry is in outstanding condition. And yes, it\'s every bit as nice as it looks in photos-probably better. The same holds true inside, where the spectacularly restored red interior is just the way the factory made it. Not \"upgraded\" to bucket seats, but still fitted with its original front bench, which is wrapped in an exact reproduction seat cover, complete with shiny buttons and tufted backrest areas. The back seat is the same, and neither looks like they\'ve carried any passengers. The instruments have all been rebuilt, including the slick column-mounted tach, which was a popular dealer accessory. The deep dish steering wheel is expertly finished, including the bright horn ring, and the simple brushed aluminum panel holding the original AM radio and ventilation controls is nearly perfect. The lone non-stock pieces are the floor mats and the matching bowtie mat in the trunk well. There\'s a correct 283 cubic inch V8 under the hood, and like all Chevy small blocks, it runs well and delivers bright performance. There are a few deviations from stock, most notably the fact that the engine is painted to match the body, but the detail work is well done and it shows minimal use. An Edelbrock intake and Holley carburetor bump up the horsepower count, and there\'s an alternator in place of the original generator for reliability\'s sake. Those ram\'s horn exhaust manifolds have been refinished and should look that good practically forever, and feed a stock reproduction exhaust system with a mellow sound. There\'s also a 2-speed PowerGlide automatic as the centerpiece of the nicely detailed chassis, which also includes a satin black frame against Riverside Red floors that are as nice as the body. Rally wheels look awesome here and wear 235/60/15 Firestone blackwall radials. What\'s more, this one was once owned by famous NASCAR driver Buckshot Jones, and you know HE knew a thing or two about going fast. So what are you waiting for, give us a call!
