FOR SALE: 1962 Bentley S2 Saloon
Beautiful classic Bentley finished in two-tone silver and black! One of only 1,920 built from 1959-1962! Cold AC and smooth Automatic transmission!
When Bentley introduced the S2 in 1959, it marked a monumental step forward in every aspect. The old 6-cylinder was replaced with a V8, the car was elegantly restyled for the times and the car had even more artisan leather and hand-laid wood trim. Naturally, it also grew in size, now with a wet weight of 4,422 pounds. In addition to several body styles offered directly from Bentley, many coachbuilders got to put their own twist on the car; it was not uncommon to see sculpted bodies by Hooper, Park Ward and H.J. Mulliner. Over the three year span of production, Bentley sold 1,920 cars including two wheelbases and a more performance-oriented Continental variant.
We are enthusiastic to represent this 1962 Bentley S2 Saloon! The car is finished in a two-tone Silver and Black with a double red pinstripe that is a splendid way to represent early 60s luxury. Everything in the interior is seemingly fitted with soft Gray leather or hand-laid wood trim. To complement the leather, the carpets are a beautiful shade of blue. In addition to its 6.2L V8 and 4-speed Flash-away (Hydramatic) GM transmission, this car is fitted with a host of standard and optional features including Air conditioning, Smiths speedo and amps/water temp/fuel/oil pressure, front tray table/ash tray, seat belts, power windows, rear vanity mirrors & lights, rear leather grab handles, dome light, rear tray tables & ashtrays, dual visors with passenger vanity mirror, bumper guards, dual side-view mirrors, dash-mount rear-view mirror, Bentley pedal pads, Lucas fog lamps and more! The car rides on matching pin striped Bentley hubcaps wrapped in BF Goodrich Revelation Touring P235/75R15 tires.
The car is showing 26,304 miles but we are not making any claims to its authenticity. We do know that the car is coming out of a Florida estate and spent the last several decades in the nice warm Southern sun. The car is largely unrestored, and as such will show its age in various places. The chrome, paint and leather are all presentable and will likely impress in a preservation class at a show but no one will be confusing them for new. Worth mentioning is the AC system that has just been serviced and blows cold. Furthermore, all Lucas wiring components seem to have stood the test of time; even the quartz clock on the dash is functional. If the car were to boast, it would do so about its full Triplex glass and original Marston Excelsior radiator, as well as full spare tire, jack and changing tools still intact in the trunk. While power figures were rarely published by the likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce, these cars are purported to make around 180 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, which is plenty to whisk you away in opulent 60s Bentley style and up to a top speed of 113 miles per hour! This Bentley presents a unique opportunity to own a vintage British luxury saloon that is both rare and affordable. That said, the owner we are looking for is one who hopefully has the time, patience and expertise to slowly bring it back to its dealer showroom glory while enjoying it every step of the way! We would be more than happy to answer any additional questions on this classic Bentley! Thanks for looking!
