Back in the day these cars drew favorable reviews from Car Life, Motor Trend and Mechanix Illustrated for their fleet, sporty feel and 0-60 acceleration that was half that of a VW Beetle of the times. It was also called the “big car in miniature” for it’s high quality materials and finishing. Motor Trend found fuel economy of 28 – 38 m.p.g, outstanding for the period.
