FOR SALE: 1955 Chevrolet Nomad

It\'s OK to admit it, we all think wagons are cool, too. If you\'ve ever wanted a Nomad, the \'55 is arguably the one to own, and this slick Bel Air hauls in style. Vivid purple paint with ghost flames isn\'t exactly the most subtle color scheme, but when you show up in this slick wagon, people are going to notice. A cowl-induction hood gives it a high-performance attitude that completely obliterates its suburban origins, and that sleek raked rear window and side glass is perhaps the most beautiful wagon greenhouse ever conceived. The bodywork looks great, and aside from the aforementioned hood, nothing has been altered save for the shaving of some of the original trim. Ghost flames lick across the front fenders, and doors, but you need to have just the right light to see them, which is how ghost flames work. California style bumpers front and rear have a smooth look and a bright chrome finish that really pops against the purple paint, and the windows seem to have just a slight tint, only enough to make it look right. Perhaps as a tribute to the tow vehicles that used to staff Bonneville, the inside looks like it\'s ready for competition but packs all the comfort and convenience options we expect. Bucket seats look right at home, especially when they\'re wrapped in 5-point racing harnesses. A custom center console was fabricated and houses a set of auxiliary gauges and a cool T-handle shifter, along with another set of matching ghost flames. The rear bench looks surprisingly stock, although the cargo area got a big upgrade with full carpets and a custom bowtie emblem on the tailgate. The original gauges have been upgraded to a cool custom digital setup that fits in the stock housing, and everything\'s still visible behind the big tachometer and shift light on the column. And no self-respecting rod is complete without a sound system, which includes an AM/FM/CD heat unit in the original location. Power comes from a built 355 cubic inch small block that snarls and barks the way you\'d hope and moves the Nomad with real authority. A big Holley double-pumper atop a high-rise intake delivers the fuel, and bright valve covers and air cleaner dress it up in true hot rod fashion. It snaps to life quickly with an awesome exhaust note, compliments of a custom dual exhaust system tucked up under the body neatly so there\'s still plenty of ground clearance despite the lowered stance. A 3-speed automatic snaps through the gears quickly and without hesitation, so the Nomad feels light on its feet, even in traffic. Classic polished Torque Thrust wheels glitter against the purple paint job and give it a traditional look with 215/60/15 front and 275/60/15 rear Uniroyal radials that give it the perfect hot rod rake. How often do you get a chance to buy a practical hot rod like this Nomad? Call now! This vehicle is located in our Charlotte showroom.
