Who knew that the 1939 Ford Standard coupe would make such an awesome-looking rod? Often overshadowed by its deluxe siblings, one look at this awesome red coupe suggests that things are about to change. First of all, that\'s Henry Ford steel, not a reproduction body. Not that there\'s anything wrong with fiberglass-it can be quite nice-but if you want something unusual like this one, you need to stick with the factory menu. Fortunately, the details here make it all worthwhile, with a front-end clearly descended from the \'38 Deluxe models, complete with faired-in headlights and V-shaped grille. The builders didn\'t take any liberties with the design, either, leaving the elegant art-deco shape to speak for itself, and in profile it\'s instantly recognizable. The bodywork was restored to a high standard before the Porsche Guards Red paint was applied, and the effect is quite remarkable-neither the color nor the design overpowers the other, but instead complement each other perfectly. Things like the rubber running boards keep it functional, while other things like the painted grille and headlight rings, along with classic \'39 Ford teardrop taillights are a nod to rodding traditions. All trim has been restored, and even full bumpers are part of the package. The classic mix of old and new continues inside where a stock style bench seat has been upholstered in modern gray fabric with a lot of style. The seat itself looks inviting in a 1930s kind of way, with matching door panels that offer a nod to 1939. Fresh VDO gauges have been fitted to a billet instrument panel that fits in the original dash so neatly, you\'d think it was born there. Also note the clever integration of A/C vents on either side of the original radio grille, which now houses an AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit. Even the accelerator is a V8 Ford \"spoon\" pedal, and it appears the emergency brake lever is an early V8 part. The carpets are in good condition, too, showing minimal wear thanks to some matching floor mats that have protected it from the beginning. The trunk is also carpeted, and houses filler cap for the 19-gallon stainless steel fuel cell underneath. A 350 Chevy crate motor has been augmented with a set of fuelie heads, a 300HP cam, roller rockers, and an Edelbrock intake and carburetor up top. Sanderson block-hugger headers dump into a great-sounding dual exhaust system, and an HEI distributor lights the fires. Someone thought about keeping this one cool, so there\'s a massive Brassworks radiator and electric fan, as well as a transmission cooler for the TH350 behind the engine. The front suspension is fully independent thanks to a Fatman Mustang II setup, and a matching independent Corvette rear, complete with disc brakes, has been fitted out back. Polished Torque Thrust wheels are another link to tradition, and are fitted with fat BFGoodrich radials. This is simply a great-looking, great-driving rod that will never go out of style. Call today!
