FOR SALE: 1937 Oldsmobile F37
Fender skirts, Spare in trunk . Oldsmobiles have no shortage of fans among pre-war collectors. This venerable fixture of the General Motors family was on of Americas founding automakers, dating well over a century in production. From the 1901 "Curved Dash" to the 1949 "Rocket 88", Oldsmobiles models became more dynamic and less conservative. Olds was also one of the first automakers to offer automatic transmission in 1940. For half a century Oldsmobiles were second only to Cadillac in ascendency towards the mass-produced American luxury automobile.Oldsmobile offered independent front suspension on its cars in 1934, synchromesh transmission having been introduced two years previously, and upgraded \'knee action\' suspension in 1935. Little changed in 1936 before the Oldsmobile model lines were re-designed yet again for 1937; the F37 line with the inline six cylinder and the L37 line with the straight eights. The Olds F37 two door touring sedan shown here makes a bold statement in midnight black and streamlined body and fenders. The rear fender skirts accent the profile hadsomely, evoking the spirit of streamlined decor from the late \'30\'s. The body is very strainght and clean, paint is in good condition with barely noticeable chips in only a couple of places. The engine was rebuilt and compression tested to 80 lb. Clutch was replaced, carburator was rebuilt and tuned. The starter was cleaned and repaired, exhaust, brakes and brake shoes replaced. All gauges and lights work. The original interior upholstery shows some wear but still presentable. Youtube video available upon request. Call our classic car division at 815-385-8408 for video and/or vehicle information.
